Rwanda is Westernised now, at least by African standards. Has a majority of women in its parliament apparently. Only young single male Ukranians could be sent there. And since they are all fighting for their country after sending wives, children etc to safety, the question is unlikely to arise.

I didn't raise the Irish question. The principle will always be that if a part of the world offers danger to UK citizens when its nationals come here, then there will be a move by the authorities to restrict immigration from that part of the world. It's about security and proper integration which in the case of some Middle Eastern and North African immigrants may take generations.

So far I’ve tracked my family (male line) back to the early 1700s, all Londoners (Clerkenwell/Little Britain to be specific) but I have a feeling that we might have been from Huguenot stock originally. Do I have to report myself to Prevent? A few years ago it was Romanians and Bulgarians we had to be scared of, it’s really refreshing that we can now welcome with open arms people from even further East. As many generations as it takes re these nationals until children's pop concerts and tube trains and buses aren't bombed, MP's aren't stabbed, taxis don't explode, residents and tourists aren't put to the sword etc... It's flippant to say there was the same fear of Romanians as there is of militant Islamists, Stan, be they part of a cell, sleepers or acting from individual beliefs. My big fear is that another MP will be murdered by these people. Suppose it was Starmer or Rayner. Do we just say, carry on as before? When does it adversely affect the nature of our democracy. So, yes, I'd prefer other refugees not these until the threat has finally expired.
How can you vet a UK national from moving from one part of the UK (Northern Ireland) to another part of the UK (England). What a load of tosh. Heavily surveilled? Bit like the jihadists of today? Not all the terrorists were coming from Northern Ireland. The IRA had a big presence in the Republic of Ireland. The fact that some attacks in England were not foiled does not mean there was not heavy surveillance. Where's your logic? The IRA used to say the security services had to be lucky all the time, the IRA only had to be lucky once.
