So the Metropolitan Police have apparently asked Sue Gray to exclude from her report references to events that are now subject to criminal investigations. I've just heard a lawyer on LBC saying that there is absolutely no legal justification for this. It's just collusion in Johnson's can-kicking by an increasingly politicised police force under Cressida Dick.

Surely, if the police want to prosecute anyone, the Gray report could prejudice a fair trial...

So, our government has failed to control the use of this country, especially London (or Londongrad as it is known in anti corruption circles) as a money laundering hub and centre for dirty Russian kleptocrat money. Money which was stolen from the Russian people as public industries were asset stripped. Johnson has refused to allow the economic crime bill to go forward, which might just have made us a little less attractive to Uber crooks. It’s the yanks who are calling us out in this. Our total failure to even enforce existing rules has made us an international laughing stock. One of the consequences of this is huge difficulty in imposing personal sanctions that hurt on Putin and his cronies. Because they own Belgravia.

But the government does have the energy to try and close a ‘loophole’ which helps people working from home claim a £125 annual tax rebate. That’ll get the bastards back in offices so our landlord chums don’t suffer.

Liz Truss takes a £500k private flight to Australia when a £7,700 business class scheduled flight would have got her there quicker. They could have hired the whole business class cabin serval dozen times over. Her thinking ‘this is why the government has planes’. She might have had to come back quickly because of the Ukraine situation. Presumably to fight on the frontline, with her personal state paid photographer, because the internet and telephone lines would seem adequate for all her other contributions.

Sue Gray report to be redacted in case it interferes with police investigation. An investigation which can, at most, result in a series of £100 fines.

Nadhim Zahawi, Education Secretary, personally thanked by Sanjeev Gupta, owner of GFG Alliance steel makers, for helping him get £400m in COVID loans via Greensill, the collapsed scam machine involving ex PM David Cameron. The £400m will never be paid back.

It’s a ****ing embarrassment.

“Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?” J. Lydon.

Col...you asked me yesterday if I was okay.

Perhaps this can help to explain my mood...plus this morning..the Met Police announcement.

Do you think it would help if he just stopped lying?
You can say all politicans lie... however I don't see it as lying. They are just not so economical with the truth.
I don't think Boris actually lies. I agree with his old adviser who said on the news 2 days ago that Boris is aloof to things. He is a visionary and wants to do the right things but sadly Boris is Boris. He has a million and one things going on and probably didnt even think that having a drink in the garden was a party. He also said as PM he has advisers leading him around all day saying "now you need to do this/that.
This is all about trying bringing down Boris/Tories because of Brexit. Sadly we have a country with many people who cannot accept the result and it has been a well planned drip fed assasination of his character.
Sadly for them it has backfired. People will move on... well maybe not Captain Hindsight and the awful opposition.

Ffs Ellers...Brexit is done...get over it.

They are going mad on Twitter. They think the police will look into it and say "we wont be taking this further".

Surely, if the police want to prosecute anyone, the Gray report could prejudice a fair trial...

The only possible reason for the Met to ask Gray to limit her report would be if there was a likelihood of a criminal trial at the end of the process. Of course that's not going to happen, it's a fixed penalty fine. The police don't need to investigate anything, they were there. This is just shameless collusion by Cressida Dick, who should already have been sacked many times over for the failings of the force that she is responsible for.

Laughable.

I don't think Boris actually lies. <laugh>

I'm not sure that's right. The police have to investigate whom the organisers were, since these are the people responsible for breaching lockdown rules. They will be served with a fixed penalty fine, but if they refuse to pay, it would have to go to a trial. That's the way the justice system works. If you don't pay a parking fine, you can end up before a magistrate.

Nick Aldworth, a former Metropolitan Police chief superintendent and counter-terrorism national co-ordinator, said the [Gray] report could prejudice the police investigation 'by disclosing the evidence that they will gather and thereby giving the potential defendants an opportunity to conceal or alter evidence'.

So, yet another reason to delay the Gray report. It is highly ironic that all those, including Labour, that demanded the police should be involved have shafted themselves and done Boris a huge favour.

Now, Putin has to do his bit, and Partygate will be forgotten about. Mad.

zzzzzz yeah they are all in on it.

On a serious note
People just need to move on. More important things than a party to worry about...

only if you ever move on from blair or the trying to get a 2nd referendum ellers :p
Bit of a stupid post Bobby. I only use Blair as a reference when the conversation is about him. I also think what Blair did was a tad more serious than a party.
As for a second referendum have you not heard what Heseltine said last week?
