Well I take it to mean the belief that one's nation is somehow exceptional - i.e. better than others.
See that’s the problem for me……I think their cause is flawed and I find them hypocritical. Along with the fact that their spokespersons are barking mad and my intrinsic hatred of the middle class……I’m not a fan
I wish you lot would stop having a decent debate on here and go back to the Brixity, Johnson, partygate bollox……..I’m trying to watch Cocaine Coast
Possibly, but remember if part of the media wish to present a public person like that it’s not all that difficult to do so, a couple of short clips shown together from hours and hours of footage, a couple of well timed pics and you’ve done it. They hid Roosevelt having Polio.
Good point and could very well be media manipulation……however, the signs could very well be there….and on a human level, that’s very sad. I ****ing hate dementia
I do the odd bit of work at a homeless shelter, but am I a hypocrite because I don’t give everything I have to a homeless charity above my absolute basics? I guess there are levels of hypocrisy but if people are using their time, money or influence to help those less fortunate power to them. I do get where you’re coming from you’re a protest snob kidding
From what I can see he’s no more doddery than Johnson or Trump, he looks old so people just assume dementia. It could be that though… oh have you listened to Bravo Figaro - Mark Thomas, about his relationship with his dad, who at that time was suffering from supranuclear palsy, part of that is dementia.
I do find their spokespeople hypocritical when they don’t even have their own homes insulted…and then when called out for it on TV and radio, state that isn’t important. But as I’ve said before….we are all hypocrites in some way, shape or form. A proud protest snob
I haven’t but will try and give it a listen. Love Mark Thomas and watched his stuff for years. The Mark Thomas Comedy Product was brilliant. Not long watched a programme on BBC called “Dementia and Me” and I’m sure someone on there had the dementia you speak of…….such a sad, terrible disease.
I Oh yeah they do seem to be able to find some stupid prick to undermine a cause. What I don’t get is that they must be spokespersons for these causes.. but who in these groups puts them forwards? In groups I’ve been involved with it’s usually a sound person who is least likely to call the interviewer a ****.
Bravo Figaro had me in tears very emotional stuff he’s done some cracking live performances in the last decade or so one about the arms trade infiltrating an anti arms group he’s involved in .. can’t remember the name of the show but was that good as soon as I saw it I booked in to see it again the next week.. oh one you’d like, called red shed
Totally agree mate…..I’ve seen two of their spokespeople (possibly the only two they’ve got) and in EVERY single interview both have come across as rude, condescending, arrogant and completely barking mad. If someone was on the fence with their cause and saw these two then by the end they would hate ER more than me !! To be honest their local organisers aren’t much better as I’ve had a few..errrr…conversations with the local nutter in Staines on a local Facebook page. I asked a completely normal, polite question and got some garbled bollox back and he blocked me……. If I was a conspiracy theorist I might think it’s being done to turn us off their cause completely.
I was gonna go to his last tour when it got to Battersea (about the NHS) but for some reason had to cancel last minute. He’s a very funny guy. The Arms Fair interviews he did were surreal
