Afternoon G The ultimate question though is…..do you think he will ? He’s as mad as a bucket of frogs so wouldn’t put it past him. Seems all the media outlets, both here and abroad have differing opinions…..some say it’s inevitable…others say it’ll never happen. Some even talk of the possibility of Vlad already having ‘agent provocateurs’ in place to carry out “false flag” attacks on Russian forces, to start the conflict. You see, I can get his point to some degree that he can play on Russian fears of the expansion east of NATO…..that seems undeniable. And I guess he can use the want of Ukraine to join as a step too far. The next few weeks will show us how far this is gonna go I feel
If he does send his troops in I wouldn’t be surprised if China makes a move somewhere, possibly Taiwan, at the same time, assuming that the western alliance couldn’t cope with all the action simultaneously.

Just watched Not because of Starmer Ellers but because they thought Corbyn was too weak and because the Tories made promises they have now gone back on. Just caught up on PMQs. Is there another country in the world that acts like these imbeciles do? Its frankly embarassing. Boris really was the butt of all the jokes today. The man really couldnt care less about this country or the public, thats plain to see. Hope he stays now though because he weakens the Tories on a daily basis.
And what of all the lies told by Project Fear during the Referendum campaign, particularly: Immediate economic chaos in the UK, half of the City of London moving to Paris and Frankfurt and not forgetting Cameron's threat of WW3?
Starmer has made the wrong calls time and time again. For me he should not be forgiven for trying to orchestrate a second referendum. Whether you believe in Brexit or not. Always remember the day we start overturning a vote ( our one voice) is the day we are not better than some banana republic. I hope whoever leads the Tories into the next election that they remind the people of what he was willing to do. That is worse than any party

The problem was, he quoted the Chamberlain related quotation, in the name of God, go, which by definition isn't original. Geoffrey Howe had the original imagery of Thatcher sending her cricket opening batsmen out to the crease having broken their bats first!
Luckily most of the British public, including those on here, are more concerned about what cheese Boris had at his infamous party or whether Sir Keir had a beer with a few of his chums. China's first object would to be completely annex Hong Kong wouldn't they. If Russia made any move at all..I am sure under that cover...Hong Kong and all the dissidents ( and a lot of ordinary people) would just disappear. Invade a sovereign country (Taiwan).. and USA would seriously do something. Read adjust your own country...they would/ could not. Also worry about North Korea at the same time... We are on a precipice and if one domino goes...several other things will happen. None of them will include Boris resigning
China already has Hong Kong (and Macau). The dissidents have left or shut up. In the ‘elections’ last December only (Chinese) ‘patriots’ were allowed to stand, and they were vetted and approved. There is no free press, even the ultra rich with a voice, like Jimmy Lai, are banged up. The judicial system is completely debased, and the police along with it. It is only nominally separate from China because the Chinese currency, the renminbi, is not freely exchangeable and the HK $ is, so it provides a clearing house (and a way for the Chinese leadership to launder their money). It’s a ****ing tragedy. The British offer to HK citizens of a route to U.K. citizenship is at least a practical offer of escape from dictatorship. 3 million Hong Kong people and their dependents (a total of 5 million) are eligible and they have been applying to come at the rate of 2,500 a week since January last year. This is the UKs fastest growing community (much bigger than asylum seekers and illegal immigrants). Apparently a lot have moved to Sutton. They might not invade Taiwan proper but they could occupy some of the many islands close to Taiwan, and also get a few more in the South China Sea claimed by them, Vietnam and the Philippines. But if they do have a pop at Taiwan, remember that only 15 countries recognise Taiwan as a sovereign state, and the US, U.K. and EU countries are not among them (if you are interested they are Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Eswatini, Tuvalu, Nauru, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Marshall Isalnds, Palau, and the Vatican City). To me, this is tacit acceptance of Beijing’s claim to sovereignty, and certainly no guarantee that an attack will be met with anything other than words and sanctions.
Hong Kong are still very noisy though, regardless of the crackdown. I hope we never get to find out if you are right
That’s your opinion, what I’ve noticed in the last couple of years, especially relating to the pandemic is he’s called for action, Johnson mocked him… only to do a u turn, too late where there’s been no benefit and it’s the reason life’s were lost unnecessarily. Not just once but time and time again.
