If there’s a party that (for example) would actually 100% put bobbies back on proper beats, instead of the ‘fire brigade’ ‘service’ toss that we’ve been served for donkey’s years. I might be tempted to vote for them. Likewise one that properly enforced the drug laws. Likewise one that reverted to teaching proper (for example) history at school instead of John Bloody Lennon. Likewise one that overturned these **** divorce laws. Likewise one that shrunk the welfare state - difficult one, huge subject. These kind of things. Not hugely popular this stuff, is it?
And there’s my point, Strolls. Why should I vote for parties that don’t want the things I do? Things will continue on their journey someplace I don’t want to go. There may be nothing I can do to stop it, but why endorse it?
I think your opinion will be shared by a lot of people. Unless all the options with a chance of winning your seat are equally **** to you, not voting gives the most **** more chance of winning. At least if the Tories only win marginally in an area they’re more likely to give it a bung of some form.
I added the bung bit which rather tragically probably should factor into folks’ choices if they’re lucky enough to live in a marginal seat ripe for a bribe.

The most likely cause of an upset in North Shropshire this week will be thousands of people who usually vote Tory not voting at all. Turnout is a massive factor in a first past the post system. People voting Labour in that seat will likely be reducing the chances of an upset.
And there you have it. Labour supporters voting for the Namby-Pambies in Tory strongholds and marginals, and Tory supporters voting for the Nambies in Labour strongholds and marginals. In the end one or two Nambies find themselves elected and the next minute they think they’re resurgent. Before you know it, they’ll form an unpopular alliance with whichever other party gets the most votes and we’ll have compulsory trainspotting, ‘bollocks to Brexit’ t-shirts in Parliament and Jo Swinson’s baps all over the 10 O’Clock News.
The Labour candidate should step aside but they’re being stubborn about it. Judging by the odds it sounds like a Lib Dem win anyway but I’ll be pissed off if the Tories nick it thanks to the few votes for Labour. I guess equally they might lose it thanks to whichever right wing fruitloops are running to get their ten minutes on stage.
It’s all this game playing, essentially not voting for someone but voting against someone else, which I think turns some people off, and makes the not voting at all option not only valid, but also potentially meaningful. If, in the event of a 35% turn out, the story isn’t about the Tories clinging on or the Lib Dems snatching a win, but about the people who refused to engage in the process, perhaps we will see some changes. Of course I’m sure that many people who don’t vote really can’t be bothered, but some of us (like Ubes and myself, for different reasons) make a positive decision not to play the game, which is not to say that we are not engaged or don’t have opinions on what is happening in the country, world etc etc.
If the Tories lose North Shropshire, you just know that ****heads like Soubry, Grieves and Adonis will be all over the media saying they were right all along and calling for a People's Referendum on the EU. Gimme strength
Why would people voting Labour reduce the chance of an upset? If they were vacillating between Lib Dem and Labour, I can see it, but if they're solid Labour voters, I don't see their vote will make any difference to the result.
It’s just the reality of FPTP. There are parties who would look at implementing a more representative system. And there’s really no chance that a lack of turnout would be a significant headline. Either they cling on in spite of everything or the Lib Dems nick what has always been a blue seat, which would be fairly big news.
I think if people have sense they will vote for the person that is best and that is the Tory candidate. I have been watching the news and it would seem although some Tories are P'sd with what has been going on they still want a Tory MP.
Hopefully the people of north shropshire vote for someone who will not in future take cash for lobbying, someone with their interests at heart and willing to represent the constituents that vote them in.

The BBC never mentioned Brexit in this fab story? Funny because when it had it's brief slump they and others blamed Brexit? They never metioned the new production rates or how we welcomed companies in without all the rubbish. No in typical BBC fashion theysaid it was down to GOT production. Hypocrites
