With the way both media and certain influencers direct narratives to the public through all kinds of media’s… possibly not. All you have to do is look at what Rayner said, rather than concentrating at all on her accusations the only story in town was the use of one word, because looking at the rest might be uncomfortable, failing that just pump out some pics about people in dinghies. We live in an age of reality tv politics and the public consume to how it’s directed.
To an extent I’d agree, the U.K. have the power of veto, the power to reform from within, did that happen? Just look at Farage, rather than attending meetings he just looked to disrupt. I’d also suggest the corruption we have now is considerably worse, not even bothering to hide it.
Who did you hear say they wanted to get rid of "foreigners"? I never heard or read that, and it never came up in tv debates among the public. Much of the UK's population is made up of recent immigrants and a sizeable number voted for Brexit. I'm sure they didn't want foreigners out, but they may have been in favour of better vetting of incomers, like the rest of the population. Every country needs to know who is coming in, as the US are finding out currently on their southern borders
We can but we won’t, you underestimate the power of the media, what Johnson has got away with in both his professional and personal life would have destroyed the career of any other politician, it hasn’t for him, do you not question why?
Wills, with respect, the EU showed there was no willingness to ‘reform from within’. It’s a myth to say that was ever possible…I mean, why would they ?
Rayner's "scum" allegation was highly relevant because the voting public do not want their politicians descending into street language and attitude (Rayner has form - she has called Tories scum in the House of Commons before now). There needs to a degree of civility among members of the various parties, because at times, politicians have to work together for the sake of the country, and it makes it impossible if the Deputy Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, thinks and says that all members of the government are scum.
I see Richard Tice's Reform Party had it's first annual conference yesterday. Don't know quite what it stands for, but you're right, there are new political parties forming. But, given our electoral system, it won't be an easy hill to climb for any of them, as Farage found out
I agree it wont be easy….but the Left is crying out for an actual Left Wing party that isn’t afraid to tell it how it is
It's negative, Stainsey. If she singled out an individual that had misbehaved, perhaps. But the whole government? It's moving into Third World stuff. We'd have fisticuffs in front of the Speaker if it continued. There have always been rotters in Parliament, but maintaining decorum has always served the institution as a whole well.
