Brexit was about immigration, even my pro-Brexit friends all acknowledge that (even though none of them are in any way racist of course). The fear of immigrants, so disgustingly exploited by Farage, won the vote in the end. This win unleashed all the suppressed racism in this country and that is where the current divisions were born.
There was a good interview yesterday with someone saying that Brexit is about looking to the future and feeling positive about ourselves and our country. As I said the UK has had more foreign investment since Brexit than all the EU combined. It's about looking to the new growing markets that will be 66% of world trade while the EU won't grow as fast. This doesn't mean we won't trade with the EU but it gives as stealth and agility to adapt to new markets... unlike that old stale antiquated organisation from Brussels who will still be counting staples if it still exists?
The vaccine programme showed we can be much more nimble footed than the EU. The EU does not have a reliable central decision-making body. Furthermore, the commission can have its hands ties by its member states. It's stuck in middle ground. It needs to go forward to one state (fraught with difficulties) or be a looser, facilitating organisation for its members.
We always had control of our borders. Farage and his disgusting poster roused the racists and guess what, they won! Racism rules. We're in charge now and anyone that demurs is a dangerous subversive. You lost, get over it! This is where it started and you and your like are prolonging and exacerbating it.
I don't see anymore racism than existed before the referendum. Over five million EU citizens have been granted or are applying for settled status in the UK. What's your evidence for your statement?
Well, I suppose we could start with footballers being booed for making an anti-racist gesture and the people booing them being supported by the government. Ask Marcus Rashford if it's got any worse.
An invisible party wins a by-election in the Tory heartlands because of tactical voting and nimby sentiment it seems. That’s what you get for spending your time making promises you won’t keep to northerners. Looking forward to the excuses.
I also am looking forward to the excuses...my money is along the lines of "the result is of no importance, the tories still have the popular vote" etc etc...
Ah bless the usual suspects are out from under their rocks because Limps won a seat via tactical voting more importantly because most the Tories were sending a message regarding planning. all the BS is coming out again. 79 majority... I can take that.
Surrey I will take this on the chin and tbh I listened to Tory voters saying they were sending a message due to HS2 and planning. They will win it back at the next election. It's no disaster. However I believe Labour had its worst ever result with 600 odd votes and losing their deposit. I actually think it's worse for Captain Hindsight.
Well you would have thought it would be about the Limps but the news are just talking about the Tories. Starmer out was trending at No2. I feel sorry for the Limps as even when they win people are not interested.
