Chartwell have apologised for the scandalously poor quality of their £30 school meal food parcels (or 'hampers' as they like to call them).

That's alright then.

Nothing to see here.

Do any of these businesses ever get penalised in any way for providing the taxpayer with such abysmal value?

The Taxpayers’ Alliance will be furious.

It's important that taxpayers' money winds up with Tory cronies rather than the parents of hungry children because otherwise it would just be spent in 'brothels and crack dens'.

Wait a minute....

Scandalous. Why can’t a business just deliver what it has promised. A great opportunity to deliver something important, make a small profit, a feel good factor all round but most importantly provide kids food in their belly. Instead it has been destroyed and seen as opportunism over care for children.

Great quote on BBC report by Jack Monroe “... school meal replaced with a poverty picnic”.
Disgraceful!

They cited the need to put their “hampers” together at short notice.

Not sure where chopping an onion into thirds or splitting a can of tuna into baggies falls into that timescale.

Even if you take the completely unemotional view of this spend as an investment, the return on just keeping kids well fed is massive. It’s so dumb from every possible angle.

I'm afraid it's absolutely typical of this government that they would give their mates a chance to profit from a crisis.

Still, Brexit.

It was absolute bollocks so I might respond later.
I agree, there are loads of them flooding the web. As soon as you mention China in a negative way, he appears. Don't be fooled by it mate. I said before he sounded dodgy. Maybe you could be Facebook mates with him? <doh> oops I forgot you are not allowed Facebook there.

Good thing there’s plenty of food in that pic then as opposed to the outsourced “hampers” provided by private companies that happen to be linked to Tory donors.
Well obviously there have been mistakes, those mistakes have been picked up and they will deal with them. Funny it's always Tory donors... every organisation is a Tory donor? Just like the PPE which was debunked at a later date.
