There was a great programme a year or so back on BBC2 (Inside the EU ?), a 3 parter that had one entire episode about what the EU did from the inside and the people involved.....was fascinating and well worth a watch. Trust me mate, the EU aren’t the ‘golden child’ that some make out and are just as bad, if not worse at times, that the Tories (who I hate just as much).
The EU is not the friend of the worker or the people.

I don’t think they are the golden child, I’m not so sure about your comment about being a friend of the worker, I trust them a lot more than Boris and co in that respect. I’m fully expecting workers rights to be eroded in the coming years.

You only have to look at the EU’s past performance during such disputes as the Viking Ferry (2007 I think), where under EU law strike action was made illegal and workers could be sacked for taking such action.....that’s why I feel they are not the friend of the worker.
Don’t get me wrong the Tories are just as bad, however this myth that the EU loves all poor people and is a bastion of the working class is absolute bollox.

Well done Bernard Jenkin <applause>
”We cannot be bound by the WA indefinitely or continue excepting laws imposed into our country by the EU court. There are no obvious means of leaving this WA.
The government must ensure that there will be a clear end to the jurestriction of the EU court and that is the test whether we are taking back control of our own laws, our democracy demands it”.

The left wing case for Brexit has always had logical coherence, whereas the right wing case doesn't, ironically. I disagree with the left wing stance (if you'll forgive the crude characterisation) but I can at least respect it.

Sorry Wills I missed this.
I do believe that the WA discussed a free trade deal and that both sides should act in good faith. You can't put all the blame on us.

I’m not being contrary here, just stating the facts as I believe they stand. The U.K. put together a withdrawal agreement, that was signed sealed and there is no acts within the document that allowed further negotiations were to be undertaken. Boris and co are piping up now saying actually we aren’t happy with x, y and z and wanting and negotiations which will see improvements for the uks position, And threatening to breach the agreement if it doesn’t happen therefore breaking international law. The Eu are turning round and telling the U.K. no chance, and let’s be fair, like any business or institution would do in their position. Anything else is pure distraction and trying to shift the focus away from what’s gone on.

If any company attempted this sort of thing with the company I work for they’d be laughed off, threatened with legal action and never be dealt with again.

I keep on hearing acting in good will, to me that seems to mean give concessions for no viable benefit. It just makes no sense whatsoever, why would or should they?

Well done Ahmad Khan <applause>
Shutting up questions on America not trading with us.
” I worked in the Pentagon and state department, I know the Americans very well. The Americans know their national interests very well and it’s in their interests to have an expansive free trade deal with us”
He went on..
”half the countries of the EU are in breach of their various treaty obligations. Germany and France both choose to deliberately breach their EU treaty commitments realting to budget deficit limits. And others are famous of being selective in which rules to follow”

Mate I don’t doubt you on that, I’m just aware that acts such as the working time directive, have come from the Eu, from what I’ve read (yes some of them will be a bit anti Tory) and what I believe the Torys will erode workers rights bit by bit.

Sort of half agree and tbh this WA should not have been signed. However I do understand why the government is doing this. We must protect ourselves. The EU has history with f22king over countries... Just ask Greece or Italy. I do not trust them and that video is clear evidence how they act.
We cannot leave the EU but still be governed by them.

So as stated, even by Tory MPs, senior Tory MPs, ex PMs etc, There is already a mechanism in the withdrawl agreement that would counter any bad faith or breaking of the agreement and enable either party to act accordingly. Let's just break international law and make us even more of a laughing stock....yet again under a Johnson leadership.

Alas, I fear this Bill will pass parliment and then it will open a huge can of worms. How can anyone be expected to respect the rule of law when our own government doesnt.

again I’d agree the Eu are no saints and respect your stance there, the problem is Boris and Co have taken it to this and let’s face it was a big part of their election campaign, it’s their own fault, imo they’ve got away with so much and now they are being held accountable

huge can of worms mate, I’m looking at this with my business head on it just makes the U.K. look untrustworthy and not someone I’d actively be looking to deal with. I can only see one way out of this whole debacle but it would involve a change in leadership if not government. Otherwise I can’t see any other viable option other than honouring the terms that have been signed up to.

It makes a mockery of any agreement anyone signs. It makes us an untrustworthy country. This is all about a power grab by Johnson and his donors, nothing to do with brexit.

How is it a power grab when Johnson is already in power?
How is it not about Brexit?
A bit of a strange statement bob.

There’s always more power to be had. We aren’t an autocracy quite yet but the goal is undoubtedly to remove the barriers to that. Judges, the HoL and any other manufactured ‘enemy of the people’. It’s nothing that hasn’t been tried elsewhere.

Fantasy Island stuff.

Totally agree that the Tories will do their best to erode workers rights....however the myth that workers rights in this country only exist because of the EU (not saying you think that) is both wrong and derogatory to the unions who fought For many years for the rights and protections we have today.
Let’s be honest, under the EU, companies like British Airways have been able to **** over their workforce....where were the EU when their contracts needed protecting ?
