Boris doesn’t lie.....he just doesn’t tell the truth.

I sort of respect the honesty of this position (on your part, not Boris'), but obviously the very fact he needed to lie about it would indicate not everyone had/has the same laissez faire attitude about the issue that you (and perhaps many others) have. I guess it was a calculated lie to get the majority, after which he has the numbers to not worry about keeping up the pretence.
Which one?
I'd rather have a guy who plays fast and loose with the truth on THIS issue in order not to give away a vital negotiating position, than have Goody Twoshoes who shows the world what cards he holds and gets dry-butt ****ed by Monsier Barnier.
Of course, ultimately, this kind of strategy may be Boris's undoing with the electorate. But on this issue, I don't think he'll lose many votes so long as he makes a success of the talks with the EU
trade and business works through deception and lack of trust. Not good relations and understanding needs
It is difficult to differentiate, and I wouldn't trust the guy in any personal dealings I had with him. But the fact is, the N Ireland situation was always going to be one of the key issues in the Brexit negotiations with the EU, and anything other than what he actually said would have been seized on by the opposition as a sign of weakness. That, Bob and Bobby, is realpolik.
I'm under no illusions that 'no deal' was always and still is the preferred option for this government.May had bigger problems than NI. She and her team were seen as weak negotiators. I doubt there will be many consequences for Boris on this, I agree. As Steel says, he doesn’t have many votes to lose in NI. And plenty to gain if he pulls off a good deal with the EU
Yes my dear goldie... now if this was his only lie then i would say he's done well to keep his cards close.
in any case, how come he's come out with the truth now we haven't even finished negotiating (have we even begun?). It seems more like it was to oust May than because he was playing a blinder poker game
Spot on Goldie she went because she was weak. Some people just do not understand how politics or political language works.May had bigger problems than NI. That’s actually nearly correct Staines. It’s all to do with political language.Boris doesn’t lie.....he just doesn’t tell the truth.

We want a deal and the red lines appear to be no EU regulatory control or judicial oversight and no encroachment into fishing watersYes my dear goldie... now if this was his only lie then i would say he's done well to keep his cards close.

Watford all this lies/lying/lair is comical. It’s how politicians say things or don’t that you need to understand. We all knew about the customs check with NI. I can’t remember who on here said it would be impossible not to have checks. I also remember back then posters accusing Boris of lying so why all the outrage now? Goldie is spot on. If we get a good deal with the EU he will be a hero. I believe he will because his Premiership relies on it. His majority as you say are brexitiers won’t stand for a crap deal.Yeah she should have just lied and kicked the cab down the road a bit more. That’s the strength of leadership we demand.
No one trusted China yet it had become an economic powerhouse before the virusYeah that’ll worktrade and business works through deception and lack of trust. Not good relations and understanding needs
Nobody will believe him when he tries to suggest the uk’s position is strong as he’s made it obvious he’s full of **** and bluster. Reputation is paramount in any business and Boris is absolutely destroying the uks.

You better get used to him because he is going to be around for some time. What utter condescending bollocks. The ****ing language ffs. The fat mop **** is a liar who has been regularly sacked for lying. He’ll come back waving a bit of paper like Chamberlain and sycophants all over the country will convince themselves it’s a great deal that is somehow better than what we had because the alternative is admitting they’ve been duped. The retort will be that we’re rubbishing the great deal because we hate Johnson/Brexit/Tories.

Staines I have not really been on here much today... what was it and I will answer before I watch True detective.Did you miss my earlier question mate ?
Any opinion ?
If Boris is Chamberlain, what does that make the German led EU?!What utter condescending bollocks. The ****ing language ffs. The fat mop **** is a liar who has been regularly sacked for lying.
