Not too keen on the voting for 16 year olds but can’t knock the rest.

There's a high level of political engagement at school level - my son was quite aware of what was going on whilst doing Modern Studies and I think at 16 he would have been mature enough to cast his vote. Not saying all 16 year olds are, but then I know some "adults" who probably should be kept away from the ballot box!

True...but as I said to Bracknell....when you're younger, you are more accepting of extremist views that you might later regret.

Off the top of my head :

Scrapped tuition fees for university students.

Scrapped prescription charges

Increased childcare for pre-school age children

Introduced the smoking ban months before it was bought into force in England

Lowered the threshold for drink-driving limit, therefore reducing the road deaths each year

Introduced minimum pricing for alcohol

Increased the number of police officers

Scrapped all the bridge tolls

Massive reduction in the countries carbon footprint, with new environmental laws

Banned fracking for shale gas

Enabling 16 and 17 year olds to vote in local elections

That should keep you going for a while Ellers.
Cheers Steels. I dont have a scooby why he was asking me?! Probably to deflect my question to him I suppose

The SNP’s party political broadcast has caused some debate in Scottish politics, with the party making some significant claims about their achievements in government.

The advert featured a man asking friends at a party, “what have the SNP ever done for us?”

His fellow revellers then give nineteen specific examples of SNP policies which improved lives in Scotland. Ferret Fact Service checked all of them.

If only he had as much concern for what was going on in England with this corrupt government as he does for Scotland.

My initial reaction when seeing something like this is to chuckle and agree with it. The problem, however, is that this sort of frankly sneering and dismissive attitude is exactly what leads to millions of people voting for the likes of Brexit, Trump, or Boris. Somehow the left, internationalists, moderates, and others, need to find a way to connect with those who feel 'left behind' [probably another pejorative term that betrays my biases] or they'll be able to continue making funny memes but won't have any power to make decisions and shape the future. It's a really big challenge and will take a concerted effort to shift mindsets. That's why I was so glad to see Starmer use his Telegraph front page the other day to talk about being proud to be British, and linking this to a pressing issue like care homes.

Sorry, I know you probably weren't looking for a serious response to a 'funny' but it got me thinking.

Agree 100%

I also chuckled but it is uncomfortably true. Obsessed with Diane Abbott anyone? A very succint post that sums up my outlook also.
