Despite thinking Brexit is a mad act of self inflicted pain with no upside, I don't get all the fuss about the prorogation.

There are still a few days of Parliamentary time before Parliament is prorogued. In those days, the opposition can call a VONC (or try and push through Cooper Act v2 as emergency legislation).

Either they have the votes to do this and stop no deal, which makes the prorogation irrelevant, or the opposition don't have the votes, which means they wouldn't have been able to stop no deal even if Parliament were sitting.

If anything, if I were a leaver I'd worry that this may be a tactical mistake as the opposition 'remain coalition' were very split about the way forward, and this may unify them and sharpen their thoughts. I guess it's a calculated gamble on Cummings' part that they won't unify in time, but I fail to see how it's undemocratic, personally.

There will indeed be a few days of Parliamentary time, but isn't the issue that Johnson has ensured that there would be insufficient time to legislate against No Deal?

The FT isn't holding back.......

Do you pay taxes?
Bet everyone try’s and pay no tax
I want a Brexiteer tax

By the way I pay full tax in both countries as I bloody should do

Yes, I pay my taxes.

If we have a Brexiteer tax, perhaps we could also try and quantify how much of an individual Brexiteer's taxes have been used to finance the EU for the past 40-odd years, as well as fund the infrastructure development of incoming poorer member states during that period, plus prop up struggling member states?

Where do I apply for my offset, please?

Where the Christ is Stan?
Will have to email him and find out

Stan sort out these No Dealers on here there are three of them

The last heard, Stan (a Remain voter) had concluded that democracy should be followed and therefore the UK must leave the EU. Like you, I would be fascinated to have his thoughts on the current state of affairs.

I regret to inform you all, Stan has decided to remain in my basement reading the entire works of Emma Goldman, while making petrol bombs in preparation for the coming revolution.
He will only show his face again when you all can sing ‘The Red Flag’, world for word in Russian.

That is my brothers wish.

Agreed and as stated before I think in conclusion everybody accepted Leave a long time ago but it’s certainly not what is best in its current likely outcome of No Deal.

Acceptance in the now but don’t anyone think that if there’s a chance to cancel Brexit in the near future you will see a surge to stop it outright. Sick to death about hearing about 17 million protest votes remember there are 16 million who don’t need to consider their views because they were always right.

It’s not 17 million now it’s a lot less plus the No deal thing I have only heard of three and they are on here!

Mr G would of pushed the current discussion into a higher band but pleased he has walked away from the forum... it takes focus to do that. I will be doing the same in Oct for sure. Hoping he returns before then.

I could be completely wrong but I have a feeling that some kind of ‘deal’ is far more likely after yesterday.

What do you think this show is about ?

I hold faith that the EU are far more intelligent than our government or process

Love it if the EU threw us out as they should now as Europe is prepared apart from Ireland and patience wearing thin over the Saxons here ... spent force hiding under Trumps petticoat is an opinion I heard last night.

Rees-Mogg "The outrage is phoney and it is created by people who don't want us to leave the European Union" Why are they allowed to lie, so blatantly and consistently? Where are your Christian values now Mother ****er? **** off. Knows damn well the outrage is real, doesn't give flying **** about the people of this country, only cares about the lining of his pockets, knows full well No Deal is calamitous. Can't believe there are people championing the **** being pulled this week, truly beggars believe. But I mean obviously when Brexit proves to be the cluster **** disaster its clearly going to be it will be the fault of all the Remoaners and Remainiacs (note you are only allowed to name call if you voted leave obvs), don't expect any contrition from the other side.

Jo Swinson on #Newsnight outraged at the prorogation.
The same Jo Swinson who wants to bring down the Government and install Ken Clarke as PM & block Brexit.
The same Jo Swinson who wants another referendum and will not even accept the outcome of that if it’s Brexit.
