I haven’t watched this interview yet but I’ve followed Paul on twitter for quite a while now and he comes over as a pretty decent, working class bloke who wants Brexit and is from the Left. He puts into words my thoughts much better than I ever could.

I’m prepared for some of the ‘intelligence’ on here to now shoot him down.

Doctors vote to stop charging overseas patients for their treatment at NHS hospitals
  • Up to 500 delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of abandoning fees at British Medical Association’s annual conference in Belfast
  • Doctors who opposed move were booed as they spoke; Tory MPs said opening up NHS to rest of world was reckless when its resources were so stretched
  • Health tourism is thought to cost anything from £200million to £2billion a year
  • BMA will lobby Department of Health to overhaul the charging system
  • Although Government sets the rules, they function only if doctors follow them

Doctors have voted to stop billing foreign patients for NHS care.
Medics backing the motion said charging made health staff ‘complicit in racism’ and ‘racial profiling’.
Up to 500 delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of abandoning the fees at the British Medical Association’s annual conference in Belfast.
‘We are doctors not border guards,’ said Dr Omar Risk in Monday’s debate. ‘Charging migrants for accessing NHS services is a fundamentally racist endeavour – we are complicit in the oppressive regime.’
Doctors who opposed the move were booed as they spoke.
Conservative MPs said that opening up the NHS to the rest of the world was reckless when its resources were so stretched.

Fellow Conservative MP Philip Hollobone said: ‘The BMA is completely out of touch with public opinion on this issue.
‘There is nothing racist about charging international tourists for the care they receive over here. Every pound spent treating health tourists is a pound not spend on British citizens.’
Only patients ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK – usually for at least six months – are eligible for free NHS care.
EU citizens can also get it for free, provided they have an EHIC card.
Everyone else should be charged up front before treatment begins and doctors, nurses and receptionists are legally obliged to check a patient’s status first.
The only situations where this does not apply are those involving lifesaving procedures or treatment in A&E units. GP surgeries are also free for all.

Yesterday the Govt pushed through a tax hike from 5% to 20% VAT on solar panels to comply with EU law. I did not support them. What is it about Mrs May’s Govt that they are so wedded to the EU? We're leaving. We don't need to set our taxes in the ways they demand anymore.

Donkey that retired after giving children rides for 25 years is stabbed in London

Tom Batchelor
A donkey which gave rides to thousands of children has been stabbed after going into retirement in southeast London.
Bimbo, 28, was found with a deep wound in his side by a local resident in Eltham, where he was being kept after retiring in 2012.
Lucy Morris, who lives nearby and found the injured animal, said Bimbo was seen by a vet who confirmed it was a stab wound.

The oldest in the herd, Bimbo was said to be in a state of shock and had contracted laminitis, a disease similar to thrombosis in humans.
In an update on her crowdfunder page, which has raised more than £2,000 towards the vet bills, Ms Morris said Bimbo had "perked up" and was "showing some of his bolshy character again".

The donkey is one of several owned by Lorayne Ahmet, whose father ran donkey rides near Greenwich Park for more than 60 years before he died in 2012.

Rare cross between donkey and zebra known as ‘zonkey’ born in Somerset

According to local newspaper the Newsshopper, Bimbo and another donkey managed to escape from their enclosure.
Ms Morris was able to return them to the field but noticed Bimbo was wounded.
"That's when I saw what I thought was a kick or gash oozing from Bimbo's side," she told the paper.
Ms Ahmet added: "I transported the donkey to Sevenoaks for a vet to attend who confirmed my fears.
"It was a stab wound. I can’t believe some one could be so cruel to do this.
'Put yourself in their hooves' Tourists urged to avoid riding donkeys
“Most of the donkeys are quite shy, but Bimbo is domesticated so I think that’s why they went for him.
“There have been a few stabbings in Eltham of late and I have seen youths messing around with the donkeys. I think one of them could have stabbed Bimbo as a gang initiation task."

Can someone actually tell us what they'd like the Mayor to do to stop knife crime in London? There's lots of criticism of him but no actual advice on what he could do. I would have thought the Home Secretary has more powers to deal with this especially as the problem is nationwide. But he seems to getting a free ride.I wonder why?

Violent crime came down under Johnson

Khan came in on a manifesto of bringing it down further, and it's gone up exponentially

Khan has admitted on Andrew Marr that what he has and hasn't done is not good enough and more must be done

It's largely a question of how he allocates the considerable police resources that London has, including use of stop and search

The rise in violent crime is not a London phenomenon, it's country-wide. The Tories have cut police by 20,000 nationwide and you blame London's mayor. Is Khan to blame for stabbings in Birmingham and shootings in Liverpool? Maybe Khan could have done more, but the core blame lies with central government.

Again no mention of the Home Secretary! Funny that! Surely reducing police numbers cannot be a good thing in fighting crime! The 'considerable' police numbers in London have been slashed in recent years. It's called austerity and it's the poor as usual bearing the brunt of it.

It's all that Khans fault! Get rid of him and knife crime will stop overnight!

#Hammersmith MURDER - Another teenager has become the latest victim to knife crime: An 18 year old man has been stabbed to death in west London. Scotland Yard say police were called at 9.20pm, last night, to Uxbridge Road in #ShepherdsBush, #W12.

khan does seem to spend lots of london taxpayers money on stuff that gets him publicity
maybe he should spend more time concentrating on doing his job and less time ****ing around with the likes of trump

I think you’ll find that knife crime, violent crime, and most crime is up not because a lack of resources, but a simple lack of parental control, when I was a young ‘un if I stepped out of line I got a ****ing good hiding off my old man or Mum, I was no angel but I knew the consequences of f*****g up so I didn’t, most youngsters today don’t have that fear because the namby pamby brigade made it illegal to chastise and punish children either at home or school so the youngsters today have no fear of authority because authority cannot and won’t punish them.

I agree. Total lack of respect nowadays. Having said that, I see more and more kids being sent to nurseries at 6 months bloody old!! So both parents can go to work. Half of these kids are not even wanted from such an early age. When me and the Mrs had kids, we decided that she should quit work and raise the kids. Take a hit financially but not farm our kids out to total strangers.

Absolutely right ,the best way to stop children being violent is to give them a bloody good hiding as then they know that violence never solves anything!
