I don't know what their individual reasons were for doing this but if you live in a country and want to stay there then it makes sense to naturalize yourself under the present circumstances. The political system in the UK. is so volatile and the way that Brits are treated abroad will reciprocate how EU citizens are treated in the UK - it can only be that way. So, for their own security, British citizens in the EU. either have to remain where they are and hope for the best, or kill off all insecurity by naturalizing in the country they are living in - if they satisfy the conditions for this (which are different in all EU countries). Both the Netherlands and Austria refuse to accept the idea of dual citizenship, and other countries only accept it as long as Britain is in the EU. I cannot see Austria throwing out Britons unless Britain starts throwing out EU Citizens.
I would think they may of found new places to live and they may of become disenchanted with the U.K. ? Difficult to understand I know but it happens even in the majestic United Kingdom a country that runs like clockwork and with a citizenship who pull together as a team

A UK Parliament making UK decisions. What a Brexit.

House of Commons taking over? But that's unconstitutional splutter the indignant Brexiteers. To them I say bollocks. Anything is possible provided it is the result of a democratic vote in the House of Commons. Just because it hasn't happened before does not make it legally invalid or a dangerous precedent blah blah. Granted it can only happen if there is a weak executive because it does not know what it's doing and the leader is unable to command a majority. The stars of that constellation have come together spectacularly in a way that may never happen again.
We know what is behind the outrage. They miscalculated the strength of their hand. It must be someone else's fault and therefore it must be unconstitutional and VERY VERY DANGEROUS say their spin doctors. Look behind those words and they are as idiotic as 'strong and stable' and 'magic money tree'.

Really interesting programme by Emily Maitless on the MPs expenses scandal last night. Pretty clear that already fragile public trust in politicians was terminally undermined by this exposure of institutional cheating, and much of the anger with ‘elites’, possibly contributing to the referendum vote, flowed from the growing, and justifiable, contempt in which we hold MPs.
The really striking moment was David Heathcoat Amory, who was mocked for claiming £380 for manure, but actually had to pay back £30k, and who lost his seat as a result, saying that if the complete disintegration of public confidence in politics and politicians resulting from people like him cheating by habit led to Brexit, it was worth it. I wanted to smash his horrible, sneering face in.

Interesting articles today on Lib Dem leadership hopeful, Layla Moran. Moran holds herself out as an underprivileged person of Palestinian origin, a simple teacher making her way in life and vehemently opposed to violence of any type.
We now learn:
1. She was educated at Roedean, the "Eton" of girls schools.
2. Her "teaching" was at the International school of Brussels.
3. She was arrested and charged with assaulting her previous partner (striking him in the face). The Lib Dems managed to get the charges quietly dropped.
There are no greater hypocrites than the Lib Dems (Clegg now working for Facebook and living in a multi, multi million $ house). The sooner they disappear from politics completely, the better.

I always remember as a boy my dad, who was the Bar Manager at the Waldorf Hotel in Aldwych, telling the story of MPs attending a banquet at the hotel and that the Liberal Party had arrived in a taxi, that was back in the days of Jo Grimmond as their leader...
He’s done well for himself and his wife is successful too I believe. He’s not pretending to be a communist so why shouldn’t he live in a nice house if he can afford to?
