My tuppence worth.....

May should have the balls to stand up on Wednesday and say to the other 27 leaders and the bureaucrats who run the EU that the UK government has offered up their solution of how the leave should be concluded and that the EU negotiators have blocked every move and tell them that that's it, the UK is off, bye.........also saying to each leader that the UK is open for business and her government would love to do a trade deal with each country and all they have to do is pick up the phone........off course we all know this won't happen.

The EU negotiators are the one's who are using the Irish border as an issue, neither London nor Dublin want a hard border but the Irish PM Veradker is too lily livered to step out of line with his EU paymasters to say anything, he's only there for photo opportunities, he's known here as # as he's more interested in his profile than actually doing anything.........

The border issue is also playing into Sein Fein hands as they want a united Ireland and they hope that this will make it happen by the back door, their new President Mary Lou McDonald is just a reincarnation of Adams, just trying to destabilise Westminster as is not to be trusted as far as she can be thrown......

All in all it's a mess, but from what i can see the UK is big enough to go it alone and the EU needs the UK more than the UK needs the EU........

Went out for a meal in Windsor yesterday to celebrate my wedding anniversary and couldn’t help but notice the number of homeless on the streets of what i assume is one of the richest places in the country. Counted at least 12 in the short walk from where we parked, past the castle to the restaurant.
To have people living on the streets, in our modern society is a total shame in this country and needs the government, whatever party, to put something in place to stop this from happening........now that truly is an outrage.

It wasn't the only issue, but there can be no doubt that immigration was the issue that swung the result.

That may be the case but it wasn't the main reason as some suggest. It was only one part and I won't knock people for wanting control of their borders

Don't forget that Labour were 20 points behind a few weeks before the last election.

And they lost. And you said it 'before the last election'. No election has been announced yet and I am pretty sure the points would be further apart. I know you support Labour but even you would know that Corbyn wouldn't get in.

Can you believe Labour are 5 points behind the Tories after the last 2 years? That tells us that Corbyn is unelectable. Worse leader they could have had. Libs are too weak as are Greens and Tories for me are the safe bet even with all this Brexit stuff.

The Lib Dems have disappeared down their own plugholes. UKIP under Batten looks increasingly like the National Front. Greens are even less relevant than the Lib Dems. So that leaves 2 parties and at the moment, both of them are split badly. A successful Brexit deal might heal some of the Tory wounds. A Corbyn victory at a GE would give him control over the Blairites, but , like you, I don't see it happening. Not just because of Corbyn's extreme views and history, but also because I can't see the Tories making such a colossal pig's ear of preparation for an election, as they did last time.

Interesting that the Parliamentary Speaker, Bercow, who has presided over a period where certain MP's have allegedly bullied and sexually abused staff, and has to face bullying and sexual impropriety charges himself, is being kept in his position by the Labour front bench who refuse to consider Tory attempts to oust him. So much for Corbyn's high ideals.

This really shouldn't be a party political issue, but I'm afraid it is. Under the last Labour government, rough sleeping fell by three-quarters, whereas it has risen every year since 2010 and the total now stands 169% higher than when the Tories took over.

Agree, and no doubt austerity has had it's effect, and money needs to be made available to deal with this issue. The solution isn't always simple. It doesn't necessarily help a homeless person who is living within a homeless community among friends and is used to an independent lifestyle, to be told there is a place at a Council run community house 10 miles up the road which has strict rules including over drink and drugs and where the homeless person doesn't know anyone.

Some will take the opportunity and get treatment for addictions, so clearly the facility needs to be provided. Some will move to such a house and leave after a week to go back to their mates on the street

The DUP don't want NI to be treated differently to the the rest of the UK, but they also don't want a hard border with the Republic (at least they say they don't). How would you avoid a hard border without the UK remaining in the Customs Union, Col? It seems to me that Brexit will accelerate the break-up of the Union (with both Scotland and NI leaving) and the re-unification of the island of Ireland (a good thing imo), but the DUP obviously don't want that either. In my view, May should just face them down and tell them that they cannot dictate to the British government. Surely Leave voters should applaud that?

I suspect that the border issue is being exaggerated by the EU and remainers.
Would a proper border between the north and south be so terrible? Why would it result in a return to violence as is claimed?
We could use technology, which is how things work now I believe.

I've heard of these stories myself and it's something i never considered before i had heard it but it certainly sounds plausible.

It's a shame what addiction can do to people.

The UK will not be doomed - they will still be trading with everyone - bar who the US tells them not to - it will all just be a little more expensive and take a little more effort. They will have a few less white people in the country and a few more brown ones. The EU and its people will not particularly think any less of the UK and its people, it will not come over for so many jollys if there are extra queues at the airport or if things get even more expensive in London.

You need 5 consecutive hung parliaments - during this period you'll need 2/3 more reliastic centric parties to form going away from this non- existent tribal system.
The UK will then have politicians who are not so empowered, will be looking at long term strategies - i.e next 20-50 years, rather than what is likely to keep them in power for the next short period, whatever the cost.
Major issue? -
It's all rather boring - you'll have to develop new things to talk about when out with friends.
After a time, life becomes too easy and the simplest "difficulty" brings on the thought of suicide.
You're likely to revert to a far more kinky open sex attitude to ease the boredom.

Don't worry guys - this time next year we'll be Millionaires!!!!
