Thank you sensible, yes I did enjoy it, more so than I expected however it was a scrupulously clean weekend not least because my (fast approaching) 14 year old son was sharing a room with us. The only thing keeping him awake was my snoring
Ah now, the finer arts of a shared room is yet another thing.........................ok I'll leave that alone. plymborn gets upset to learn things far too late in life for him. But glad you enjoyed your weekend nonetheless. Mixed fortunes in mine. Watched Argyle lose on Saturday and spent several hours on Sunday throwing my grandson about in a swimming pool hence the knackered. It was nice to get back to normality in both senses. Well, not nice in one I suppose but the football they played was good despite the result.
sensible I was reading your comments on the match thread and it does sound encouraging, I do like the sound of this on the floor passing, something which has been lacking since the hollow one departed. I'm still looking forward to my first home match, everything has been working against me going so far but hopefully that won't last.
Watching University Challenge............Plymouth V Durham...........a total thrashing very depressing....at present......45pts V 275pts........i will continue watching.
Final score.......Plymouth 45 pts...V...Durham 325 pts............none of the students came from Plymouth.......pretty pointless really........when your down your down.
Mrs Reid have you any idea how many Pilgrims have signed up for this site.............it just seems that not so many are posting anymore..........surely they are not chickening out because of how things are at present........need to close ranks and chat more.
Gills fan in peace... At a rough estimate you probably have about 56 members, of those you probably have about 20 reasonably active members, of those somewhere in the region of 10 members who have in access of 100 posts. You need to let people know you are here, what is the most active Plymouth site? Are you doing articles, see my example...http://www.not606.com/content.php/1193-First-Game-The-Early-Years-Gillingham-FC-Article Just get someone to do something as a thread on your board and hope the Not606 team pick it up and promote it to article - then it will be published on NewsNow, which will bring in more of your supporters. Have you got a prediction league? You need to do something, if you want to bring them in, currently the Gills have 146 members, so you've got a lot of work to do. Any of you coming down Saturday? brb
brb, It is really difficult to get Argyle fans motivated right now - even the "regulars" and after a thread I posted in request I now have a member willing to do match reports where possible, however we do still need someone to do a pre-match thread so if anyone is willing to do that... You have to understand the mindset of Argyle fans right now, we have had years of decline and this shows no sign of changing - have you seen our results??? I'm afraid apathy is alive and kicking in Plymouth. I am doing my best but in difficilt circumstances!
Mrs Reid your doing alright............even though you had a iffy weekend in Oxford.......don't take any notice of that smutty old sensible down in his cellar, busy sweeping up the last crumbs of your birthday cake. Just remember Mrs Reid...........fifty years from now none of this will matter ...........and just ponder on the thought...........that the three of us would make a fine pair if there ever was one !!!
To get plymouth folk to do anything first requires nothing less than a bomb up their ass. I think our board is active enough even if some are only occasional participants. statistics are for the analy retentive and it is the quality that counts not the amount. If you look at some of the premiership boards there are hundred of threads invented almost daily. The vast majority of these lead to one or two responses and are repetative as well as fairly boring. We are doing fine on here Mrs Reid so no advice required.
Thanks guys mmmwaah I know this place sometimes looks a little dead but I kinda like our little community. You are right sensible some of those prem boards are souless, even so we really could do with it being a little more lively here, I will have to see what I can do but I need others to help with this by volenteering to help with stuff. Sensible and Plymborn you both write excellent well thought out threads, have you thought about writing an article? Maybe an article on the Mariner days of 70s or even Tynan - how about Malcome Allison?? I wasn't into football in those days and so know nothing about these historic characters connected with our club, you guys must do. Just a thought.
One can one say that hasn't already been said. I don't understand however, Sensible saying he has not seen any opposition better than Argyle this season At Home Park, including Millwall. Anyway I am still waiting for my Bottle of Champagne I ordered last night at 9.50.
Thunder, we don't serve champagne to celebrate our club losing, it's only available in this bar after a win - or at least some good news
There are many things you don't understand it seems but one day as a grown up you may just grasp something. Pop along to Home Park and see for yourself and if you haven't already this season then no wonder you can't or indeed have any contribution to make. There is nothing wrong with this board as it is Mrs Reid and I don't have any inclination to write something for the sake of not606 to somehow try to invite others to join in with us. There are many sites that have far less in the way of contributions than this one. At least our board is used daily and not weekly like some. Not606 got plenty of advertising when 606 was closing down and in my humble opinion does not require us to advertise it for them nowjust to boost their numbers overall. I'm not interested that Gillingham has 141 member and it is more than Argyle. I thought everyone knew by now that size isn't everything it's quality that counts. Giving somebody what sounds like a school report "could do better" is a wee bit patronising and by me at least uncalled for.
I haven't been to Etihad Stadium Manchester also Sensible, but what I saw on Monday night was a 4-0 thrashing. I have yet to read or hear a Swansea fan say they looked better than City. I know people that go to Argyle week in week out and have done so for a while, and not one of them as told me Argyle deserved something out of any of their Home Games thus so far. Try being a little less patronising as well, I know what I see, and what I have seen (Highlights admittedy) is Away goalkeepers not having to make any saves to talk about and Argle picking the ball out of their net 7 times. Bottle of Bud please.
sensible, I'm not adverse to a little constructive critisism but that's not the point, IMO we could do with a few more contributers to add to the mix a little. I didn't become a mod in order to make this site bigger or better that wasn't the point, at the time we needed someone to keep out a certain poster who was spoiling it for everyone else and I (along with a few others) felt a mod was needed at that time although I'm up for a little banter so long as it doesn't get personal. If I felt I was being unfairly critisised I would most likely resign but atm it doesn't feel like that.
hey we are both near the bottom of the league, we both need to start winning, you can start by an upset at the gills. green army! and a pint of betty stoggs please
