Just checked GoS.......Div 3 Apr 26th 1975.......Furnell, Hore, Burrows, Saxton, Green, Delve, Randell, Johnson, Mariner, Rafferty, McAuly, ..Sub Vassallo. 41 yrs ago.....wow that's a long time ago.
Having spent 35 years in the RN (Have I told anyone?), I have had to endure this whole week with the Army . Me , 10 x army people and 1 X RAF wallah all doing a course together-all I can say is that the other services are very strange and take life far too seriously (apart from the RAF who obviously turned up in his smoking jacket, cravat and slippers) . To make things worse I've had to stay in Bulford garrison- nice en-suite room and everything but there is no one around, the 'cook house' (galley) closes at 1800 and the bar is deserted. Resorted to drinking on my own. Still, just a three hour exam tomorrow and back to sunny Devon. Cheers.
What was the course Doorman? In 1975 on 26 April I was a PO Writer aged 25 at Dartmouth. The next day I was 26. This was my not going to Argyle period as I was away from Plymouth for the next nearly 4 years.
I was supporting Burnley in the mid 70s and made the trip to turf moor most Saturdays-1st division then,-how times change.
Ey bye gum!!! ecky thump lyndhurst how could you? I did have a sneaking admiration for Leeds at that time but only because I thought they played football way better than anyone else and could kick people. The complete package for those days I reckon.
I'm sat here this evening wondering whether to open a beer or have a cup of chocolate. How sad is that. That's after an exciting day shopping at Tesco with the boss. Even sadder. Having read back what I just typed I've settled for the beer.
A glass of your finest barperson and stick one in for anyone else who pops in. If they have a preference scratching/nuts then chuck that in as well. Friday night once more and full of anticipation. I was reading the Sunderland board earlier today and you can't help but be drawn to the Adam Johnson threads which they were bound to have. It's funny how some supporters feel a need to take on some sort of blame for the club they support and they are expecting a backlash because of the case. Nothing much to say about the case itself because that will play out as it does without comment from those who don't know the facts but I don't see why the Club itself should feel any guilt let alone the supporters. The club did as an employer what any employer should do in the circumstances. They could not prejudge the case and get rid and especially as he was adamant he was innocent and intended to plead that way. As soon as he changed his plea they sacked him and rightly so. As far as I can see they have acted perfectly honourably in this and any crap to hit the fan is Johnsons not their's. I doubt it will happen but other club supporters should leave it well alone.
Agree, no one at the club is to blame.. Justice will take it's course and hopefully the punishment will fit the crime/s.. but it never does .. so we will wait and see.
Valentines day today and nearly over. I bought her an apron with a rose on it. She was so happy with it she shed a little tear. It's moments like that that make the effort worthwhile. Treat myself to a beer now as a reward. Cheers.
I bought Mrs Plym a nice box of chocolates.....she doesn't eat them often.....I expect I'll have to help her out there then ......
I bought a card.. also last week had to pay for a car, but it is her birthday on the 29th Feb, does not come around every year so not bad every 4 year's.. So that was birthday present and Valentines all in..
You bleddy creep Joe or was that "had to pay for a car" thing you booking a taxi so she could get to the shops for your tea? I'm taking my Mrs out tomorrow as it happens. She's got an appointment at the Eye Infirmary.
If she walks in front of a car I'd probably have to cook my own tea and worse still do the shopping for it as well. She's worth it but don't tell her I said so.
Yes we all need them, even tho we moan about them.. I definitely need mine..I could not cope with my boy on my own.. but i tell her i manage when she is out..
A dozen red roses and some chocs for Mrs Lyndy. Oh and a new oven (for me) and a new sofa for both of us. My leaving the RN money is rapidly decreasing-time to dust the CV off. Anyone want a fully qualified Marine Engineer with an MSc and Prince2. No thought not- shelf stacking it is then.
I heard they had a vacancy in the Navy Lyndhurst..... The above list is more than I've bought her in 46 years. I think the only reason she stays with me is so that she can find my stash after I'm gone and spend it all. She won't half be pee'd off when she finds out I've left it all to Argyle.
Do an Open University course Lyndy and get some proper qualifications.......shelf stackers need to be able to speak Polish or Romanian or you don't fit in......the sooner we get our country back the better.
