The thing is, if one is a reasonable, sensible, educated poster (as most of us on this board appear to be), one seems to attract ****wits like wasps around a honey-pot. ItThey don't know how to make the honey, and they're determined that you're not going to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

There's a few about meand I think that a number of the regulars here have been mentioned a fair few times.
Idiots, like Jayram (as well as several of the mods) know when they meet an intelligent poster who is going to be able to blast them out of the water on any argument that they attempt to raise, and they are scared of him. So, instead of taking the risk of exposing themselves to ridicule, they don't bother with any debate, but instead resort to base, and pathetically juvenile personal insults.
It would be funny if it wasn't such a damning indictment on our society, in general.
I think it's fallout from 606 for the most part, HIAG.
People are so used to being attacked by WUMs all the time that they're automatically on the defensive.
Anything that even resembles criticism is jumped upon as being an attempt to WUM.
Hopefully it'll pass with time.

I hate name-calling, since it's nothing more than a form of bullying (which I am absolutely against, and do everything in my power to stamp out, as part of my job in the real world), but an idiot is an idiot, and they are ruining this site (with the encouragement and assistance of certain mods), and I really do wish the vast majority of decent posters would stand up to whoever runs this site and force him to get his act together.
I'm not saying that the idiots should be banned - there have been many occasions when they have, inadvertently, given me literally seconds of amusement - but I do think that we should put an end to this absolute nonsense about having people banned from boards. This is supposed to be an adult community FFS! if tolerance can be shown to a ****wit such as Jayram every time he insults someone, then the same tolerance should be extended to those who turn on him and call him out as the ****wit that he is.

I cannot abide JA606. it is comprised of nothing but idiots, wannabe internet hard-men, juveniles, morons, and wums.
Bearing in mind the sensitive nature of the LFC and Gooners on this site, I really cannot imagine that this site would be able to withstand even a mild exodus. Or do you really believe that anyone coming from over there is going to make valuable contributions over here?
As a discussion forum, JA606 is a complete and utter joke. As a place to visit in order to laugh at ******s, it's a fantastic experience

With sadness I have to agree that there are those on my board who for no other reason than tribal fantasies and an inability to associate with grace, set upon visitors who come with the best of intentions. Their name-calling and insulting demeanour extends even to fellow supporters making one wonder if they are only able to obtain relief from their form of socially-challenged complex by hiding behind a moniker. Sadly there seems no cure for these types and to regard them with contempt only gives credence to their being so it probably is best to ignore them altogether. Fortunately there is such a facility on this forum and while aesthetically unappealing the results may be, at least one is comforted in not having a need to debate at such base levels.

You and a fair few other Guuners are the reason I liked to post on your board, engaging in debate with level-headed and sensible posters, who never reduced themselves to the level of school-children. I know that it's unrealistic for me to believe that all posters are going to be like that, but I am gravely disappointed that certain mods on this site do not appear to be able to discern the difference between sensible behaviour and moronic behaviour, and even side with the idiots.
Typically, what will happen is this:-
1. Rival fan makes a sensible post that is slightly critical (but fair), on another board.
2. Sensible fans on rival board join in and a lively, but intelligent debate commences.
3. 7 or 8 posts in, an idiot turns up with the imbecilic comment "ignore [rival fan], he's nothing but a wum" [despite the fact that several of his fellow fans have quite happily engaged the "wum" in intelligent and lively debate.
4. Other idiots appear out of the closet and commence the personal insulting.
5. The thread is hijacked by the idiots.
6. A so-called moderator steps in, supporting the idiots, and issues a "friendly" warning to the rival poster, completely ignoring the wishes of the majority (being the sensible posters).
It's a real shame that we cannot break this pathetic cycle, especially as it's so easy to break. All that is required is that there is a rule that posters cannot be banned from boards.

The problem with recruiting from JA is we're bound to recruit a load of half-wits in the process, it needs to be done privately so the morons don't catch on.

Sounds like ja606 down to a tee. Ignore the deliberate, blatantly obvious, WUM's & general idiots. Jump all over the genuine posters, and fans of that teams board for having the temerity to react to these people. I have the distinction of being banned for life, for doing just that. Not that I could genuinely, give a toss, but it makes me wonder about the mentality of the people who run the site.
There ARE one or two sensible contributors over there from the old 606. However, mainly, it's a WUMfest, fit only for those of an infantile disposition.

Many thanks for your kind words my friend. It should be so that members are able to contribute to the greater good of everyone across all boards.
I wonder if there might be another way to address this issue. If posters cannot be banned then one runs the risk that those who ' contribute ' with ill-intent can wreak havoc with impunity. Perhaps there ought to be a warning system of some sort and if a poster has transgressed habitually and to the detriment of others then any ban may only be applied by a super moderator. It would help in the initial process if moderators were selected with due care in the first instance though I appreciate that this forum with it's many boards may have been put together in haste.
Why not adopt something along the lines of Yellow card- Red Card? Or Maybe, two yellows, and then a final Red - three strikes - you're out, sort of thing.
Unless of course it qualifies for a straight Red. There has to be a way of banning these idiots, IMO. If we didn't, we would still be being plagued by the Michigans of the world.
