Thornley/Grainger take silver in women's double sculls...just pipped on line by the Poles who took gold. A terrific performance after tough period. An unexpected medal.
Murray tried to make a pigs ear of it...being 3-0 down in the 3rd set. Finally woke up and took the last set 6-3.
We are doing well in dressage again. I find it amazing as horses are not the smartest creatures on the planet. They have to learn moves that do not come naturally to them and recognise the leg and hand commands from the rider. They are not capable of learning routines so have to concentrate solely on their rider as instructions are given. Takes a special horse as well as a special and very patient rider. Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro leading at the moment....won a gold in 2012. ps. This was the pair that danced to Land of Hope and Glory in 2012.
And the cycling has started...should get a few medals....need them as rowing won't deliver as many medals as usual. Just seen that a rugby player got injured and the ambulance driver didn't know where the hospital was And that female cyclist was left untreated for 2 mins after knocking herself out (long enough to choke on your tongue). There will always be accidents with this many sports going on...the authorities should have had this nailed down.
I'm very disappointed that they have stopped head gear for the boxing. Josh Buatsi just knocked out his opponent with a devastating display, but the slow motions of his shots to the blokes head were tough. Bring back the protective head gear.
I think it should have been stopped after his opponent was put down twice....he was in no fit state to defend himself a third time. Remember a footballer would probably have been looked at by a medic before he'd be allowed to continue. Standing up does not always mean you are really there.
