This is purely a reaction to my disenchantment at recent not606 events and the ever increasing abundance of pointless tripe that infects our boards. So in a cruelly ironic way, I would like to open the Not Talking Bollocks Thread. Feel free to post your most succinct and poignant thoughts of the day and get the proverbial 'it' off your chest. Football relevance would be greatly appreciated.

Had a job interview today that requires me to work every other weekend. I already work there but only have a casual contract, but get lots of hours however every hour is getting contracted out now so needed to get the job.

I have a feeling I will get it, and have ways in which to still not miss a game however, they would want me to start a week on Saturday. Tottenham away. Already paid. Any advice? Could I say I had a previously booked arrangement?

Get a new job?

Usually when you're offered a job you're asked when you're available, and you can say that you have something booked on X day but otherwise you're free right away. I've done it once before when I had a wedding to go to, just told them I could start immediately but I had an appointment I had to attend on the Thursday. Those guys had no issue with it anyway.

Think I will do that. The lad on the interview panel is a ST holder and a mate, hopefully he'll understand.

I don't see why they should have a problem with it really, unless they think that football might get in the way of your work in future and act arsey about it. I'd be tempted to say wedding or family event for that reason but if the guy on the panel is your mate then you'll obviously know whether or not that would happen.

I hope you didn't tell them that you bleed black and white mind, that'd be a pretty stupid thing to do.

No no, was really professional and football didn't get mentioned once. When asked if I had any problems with attending any of the shifts that were on offer, I just said no, the toon fan on the panel looked at me and give me a cheeky smile. He knows the craic. Probably won't get it now. Will keep you updates <laugh>

As a member of the not606 career service, the best advice I can give is follow skalps' advice. <ok>

Well in my last job, my attendance and punctuality problems stemmed from a mental incapability to drag myself out of bed and face the horrific torture that was my workplace for another day, so I'd say going to football matches is a pretty good excuse.

I'm missing the Derby game because of work. Won't even be able to get score updates <wah>
