Just watched the whole game at work. My first thoughts were the hell with all the penalties. My second thoughts are our defence is possibly overrated. The interception was only a result of a bad throw and I don't know how great an o line the rams have but there was barely any pressure on Stafford.

I think this is a game where you have to say "well played" to the opposition. We didn't do anything particularly wrong but they were just better in this game. The thing that concerns me most is the injury to Darrisaw because he is bloody good and Quessenberry is ****. It certainly didn't help Darnold.

Yeah obvious now that they don’t have the players on that side off the ball to have any chance in the playoffs (if they get there). Still have a pretty easy run over the next 6 games or so which will be make it break, need to be going 4-2 at least if they want to make the playoffs. Obviously doesn’t help that the rest of the NFC North is so strong
 
Also second game in a row where they’ve generated zero pressure on the QB. The Rams had a bad O line out last night with a couple of rookies including an UDFA on it and they couldn’t get to Stafford. The Colts have one of the best O lines in the league so can see that trend continuing

That may be true but Richardson is a completely different type of QB to Stafford. Stafford tends to stay in the pocket whereas Richardson will use his legs more. That may make it easier to get to him.

In obvious and true Vikings fashion, Darrisaw is out for the season. Think that might mean they don’t even get into the playoffs tbh. Darnold getting pressured a lot would be a disaster

Good luck with that, they are a very rare breed and get paid an extortionate amount (think they are second highest paid position on average after QB). Nobody is giving up a good or even decent one. Plus Darrisaw is one of the better ones in the league, what do you do when he comes back and have two.

The team isn’t good enough to win a Super Bowl so I don’t see the point in sacrificing the future, for a team with one of the oldest rosters in the league, to get someone in now.

They might be able to find someone better than Quessenberry but the fact he has been in the league for what feels like forever shows how rare decent LT are considering how **** he is

True. I guess the other option is improving the defence and getting a CB in. Could definitely do with upgrading on Murphy. And we could get a good one in and extend him.
 
Packers and Lions both win, Bears probably win later, if they do Vikings will be last in the division after 5-0 start <laugh>

Just seen the play. Obviously requires a lot of luck but Daniels did as much as he could do, keep the ball for as long as possible and avoid getting sacked then launch one. TBF if Washington hadn't become bogged down in the red zone all game they wouldn't have required that.

He was probably the only LT option to trade for as he's out of contract at the end of the season. We're not giving much at all away in terms of draft picks and Jags are apparently taking on some of the 16mill he's still owed for this season. He's obviously no Darrisaw but he seems to be considerably better than any options we currently have internally.

A 4th rounder next year is the cost, don’t particularly like it for the reasons mentioned earlier. On the surface you are essentially giving up a 4th round pick for likely about 10 games as he will be too expensive to re-sign when they have Darrisaw.

Does give you a potential replacement if he plays well and Darrisaw’s injury is really bad, and if he plays well and gets released the Vikings might get a comp pick back as LT is viewed a high value position.

Sounds like he’s been very inconsistent in his time with the Jags but definitely seems better than what the Vikings have, I just don’t really see the point as whilst he helps with the O Line he doesn’t make this team a serious Super Bowl contender

2026 draft isn't it? And it's a 5th rounder which becomes a 4th rounder depending on playing time. So if he sucks or Vikings collapse it will be a 5th rounder. He's meant to be a good pass blocker, less so against the run but protecting Darnold is the important thing here.

He’s going to play every game unless he gets injured as the Vikings aren’t going to be out of playoff contention for a while.

Sorry when I meant next year I meant next seasons draft.

I’ll wait and see how he does but essentially this just keeps the Vikings in with a shout for second place in the NFC North, which means they will likely have to go to Detroit if they make a deep playoff run which I can’t see them winning, so overall seems like sacrificing a bit more of the future for now.

If you think the 2024 Vikings are in a position to win the Super Bowl then you will obviously like this move. If you think McCarthy is the future from 2025 and that is when realistically they should be building a team to win the Super Bowl then swapping a 4th round pick for a 7th in the first draft with McCarthy starting seems stupid
