07/12/2017 : Things have panned out as I (half) expected * :
Skysports - Derek McInnes to stay as Aberdeen manager and will not join Rangers
We should persevere with Graeme Murty, he has not let anyone down.

The cynic in me says that Rangers knew that Aberdeen would not let Mr McInnes break his contract and expected Aberdeen's rejection of permission to speak to their Manager.
I also wonder about Mr McInnes' state of mind with all this speculation, for I am certain that he would very much like to become Manager of Rangers, but also has unfinished business at Aberdeen which out of loyalty (maybe) and professional pride, he would want to see through.
