Agree to differ, if the tories aren’t careful they’re the ones that are looking at imploding, they are so fractured right now, it’s what being in power too long does to a party, they become arrogant and take the voters for granted, never a good look whichever party it is.

I honestly disagree. The Tories were already way behind in the polls before Boris went. Since then they've plummeted, so whilst I agree they will claw back SOME popularity I don't think it will be enough to win a GE - or certainly not with the parliamentary majority that they currently enjoy.
As I said above, the 'Red Wall' voters will return to to Labour - that's most of the north of England. If the Tories DO win a GE it will be in partnership with another party - like Theresa May's government. THAT wouldn't be good either - nothing would get passed through parliament because Labour and the SNP would block absolutely everything.
I think voters are more likely to vote Tory if Sunak took charge. If I were Starmer I'd be more frightened of Sunak than any of the other Tories - including Boris.
As for Labour - if they DO lose to this shower of ****e then they really need to take a good hard look at themselves. Starmer will have to go and it will be THEIR turn to implode.
I said in a previous post I’d be really surprised is BJ gets back in. If he does the Tory party will be in real danger, many Tory MP’s are threatening to quit, causing by-elections, or give in the whip and become independents. If that happens there will be chaos in the Tory party and a GE will ensue, it will take years for them to recover. Their best bet would be get behind Sunak or Maudant , but even that is risky.
The only way to properly settle things is to give the people a say with a GE. They may lose but they live to fight another day. At least they’d be seen to be looking after the national interests and not their own.

Don't want to get involved too much in your political threads, but the one thing that Starmer doesn't want is Boris back in the Tory hot seat.
Despite endless efforts to resurrect it, you'd be amazed how quickly his recent adverse history would be consigned to the small print, and the headlines will be all about Boris pulling the country around over the next 2 years.

Didn't say it would or should happen, but Boris would be Starmer's nemisis despite the historical baggage he carries.
Starmer's best chance of attaining the power that he seeks relies on the country continuing to bumble of under a weak and innefective Tory leadership.
Sunak is pragmatic and sensible but also bland, and although I quite like Mordaunt, she'd have a lot to do to rouse the party. That could just be a bit beyond her, but it certainly wouldn't be beyond Boris.

I look at the potential candidates that are possibly going join the race to be PM, then I look at the potential leaders of the opposition, Sunak,Maundant, Starmer, Davey, Drakeford, Sturgeon and Blackford, the only one that stands out for me politically is Maundant, head and shoulders above the others and she would have no chance against BJ.
I believe unless a miracle happens the Tories at present are a lost cause anyway, Boris is a proven winner in the recent past, at least they would have 2 years to right the wrongs and improve their standings, I despair when I see the pathetic opposition, I want to listen to his ideas, the others don't have any that appeal to me, he is the lesser of all the evils.
He is a proven liar and a buffoon but he did get us out of the EU, handle the pandemic and vaccine issues well, proved to be a world leader over the Ukraine war, he won the 2019 election with an 80 seat majority and proved to be a winner, he was ousted by the same people that disposed of Truss, he did not cause the economic crisis, it's obvious there is history on both sides of his character I will not deny but I do believe he has got the strength, personality and ability to unify the Conservative Party if he chooses to and is given the chance better than the other proposed candidates.
Like I said I'm prepared to leave the door open, listen to what he proposes before I make a judgement, everyone deserves a chance to change their direction, just maybe recent circumstances have changed his.

I don’t know your voting habits RP, but as you’re pushing me; judging by your posts on here on political threads, I would say you’re a ‘static’ - someone who simply votes Tory - no matter what - even when they are ****e.
