Because they’re in essence carrying out the function of the Met due to Tory ‘austerity’ cuts.

A local Bobby shouldn’t be something that has to be locally privately funded.

There’s a blurring of the lines between these groups and the functions of the police. A security guard on a gated community I’d have no issue with, but these plastic plods are going well beyond that remit.

It’s something that’s become commonplace in the US - mostly in wealthier areas.

You even see it here in some of the private estates. There’s one close to me that has jeep patrols with guards armed with batons and what looks like a kind of mace spray.

Anyone watched Flint Town on Netflix? Documentary about the hugely overstretched and under resourced Police Dept in Flint, Michigan? Watched the first episode last night.

There are basically so many murders, burglaries and armed robberies each night than they aren't even able to respond to most of them.

Flint is an unbelievable ****hole. God may have formed the earth in 6 days, but on the 7th day, whilst he was having a kip, beelzebub popped up and made both Detroit and Flint.

It was a GM city, but with the decline of the auto industry it has been in almost permanent recession.

Crime is much lower than it was in the 80s and 90s because the period between 1997 and 2010 saw a consistent increase in the number of police officers on patrol. I wonder what happened in 2010 to put that reduction in crime into reverse?

Another big difference between these groups is that one lot (sharia nazis) are not enforcing the law of the UK, whereas the others are.

Yeah, it's clearly a ****hole now. 25 years ago it was the American Dream - a hard working community with good jobs, decent schools, sports clubs, civic pride. Now it's a lesson in what happens when industry moves on, and those communities are completely abandoned.
