I then suggested that he had plenty of time to concede lots against Barca and overtake the number that he'd conceded against the stated teams.

Past tense in that Bellerin and Sanchez have moved to Arsenal and have the pride of wearing the cannon on their shirts. Hence your past tense comment about Cech following from that. But actually, as you say it makes no difference whether it's present or past tense, you're wrong either way.
Cech has picked zero balls out of his net from Barca as an Arsenal player. All you can do is speculate.
