FFS is this still going on? Costa is a c*nt but anyone that eye gouges, spits or bites is an even bigger c*nt. If Dembele had given him a dig in the ribs or an elbow in the gob then good luck to him. Eye gouging though? Na. C*nt.
Yeah lets not dwell on it too much. Chelsea players aint saints, and they did say some things before the game, probably in an attempt to rattle Spurs, which evidently worked to some degree. I think I just legitimately expected the Spurs players to rise to the challenge, and not lose their cool like that. Costa IS a ****, but eye gouging is not good, and the perpetrators on both sides will likely be appropriately punished. So lets draw a line.
If I had to take a guess, I would say that the linesman said that he didn't see anything, because he didn't see anything? I may be wrong, or are you implying that he was bribed or some ****?
Don't think this poster on the Spurs board understands FA protocol. "Surely we/ Dembele will appeal before the deadline today? The photo is evidence enough to show that the line-o saw the incident and the fact Costa didn't even hold the correct eye shows there was no damage whatsoever. Although to us it's blatant he's gone for the eye-poke, I'm sure our legal team can battle it out by just saying he's pushed his face and his fingers have happened to go near his eye. That happens a lot in football (and in general) when trouble breaks out. To get anything more than a three-game which is being suggested by the media is an absolute joke, especially when worse cases have been dismissed or dealt with the general three-game suspension." Once the FA make a statement the case is already done and dusted and the punishment already decided.
Why would you appeal when there is concrete video evidence of the incident? I am sure Dembele didn't consciously think "Right, I am gonna blind this ****". The video cannot prove intent, nothing can, only Dembele knows what his actual intent was. The fact of the matter is though, he struck another player in the eye, which is violent conduct, as per FA rules. Whether there was damage or not is irrelevant. Ivanovic had no visible damage when Suarez bit him, doesn't mean that all is well and we should allow biting, as long as no blood is drawn.
Er, no. It's me going down the 'why did the linesman report that he saw nothing when he's looking directly at the incident from a couple of yards' route..
You can see the picture as well as I can. Either he badly needs corrective lenses, or he's failing to report an incident that he's not 2 yds from..
Maybe he was looking in that direction but was thinking about what he was gonna have for supper when he got home. I dont know.
Or maybe Dembeles big head meant he could only see half of costas head so couldn't see Dembeles sneaky eye gouge
gouging another player's eye is trying to inflict damage to their eyesight ! ie they are trying to blind them
The whole point of this is that he is being charged by the FA over an incident 'that was missed by the officials'. Except, as that pic shows, it wasn't missed.
Ok what do you hope to achieve by sticking your finger in someone's eye ? it will blind them, it maybe temporary or it may be more permanent !
