Awesome stuff!!! There's a couple of really good jazz venues in Glasgow(obviously not at present). My wife and I would sometimes go on a Saturday afternoon. One,in the merchant City, was full of couples in their late 60's/70's,all dressed up in their finest, dancing along to a full jazz/swing band,it was refreshing to watch whilst enjoying a beer or two.The other was a Belgian bar up in the West end,bit more yuppy but some fine musicians and singers on display.....What I'd give to be going tomorrow.
The range of stuff Eva Cassidy could do was amazing. Only white lass who could pull off an Aretha Franklin song, Chain .of Fools and then do jazzy numbers and standards. Her version of Autumn leaves is up amongst the best. Love Tall Trees In Georgia. She was a pretty good guitarist too.
Sad when you compare the acclaim and riches talentless bimbos get compared to what she did in her lifetime. Though those things never appealed to or motivated her. Mick Fleetwood who guested on drums for her and was a big admirer said she turned down chances of deals as she only wanted to play stuff which appealed to her. Bet he didn't dare tell Stevie Nicks that Eva's version of Songbird was a lot better than hers
