This open management search is such a farce. I don’t get it at this point. I really hope that the deal is already done behind the scenes and we are not continuing with interviewing 100 candidates. It is one thing doing due diligence, it is another dragging one’s feet in so much analysis that lead to paralysis.

The trouble is that so much of what we read in the press is pure speculation. Nobody knows who has been interviewed, if anyone, nobody knows whether we have one or more candidates in mind or who they are. Much of the crap that appears on Sky is driven by betting trends on Sky Bet - more ten Hag stories brings more bets and influences the odds = more revenues for SkyBet so they keep churning this rubbish out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we appoint someone from left field.

I second that! However, I can only imagine that the players are also in the dark and no one knows if they’d definitively be at the club next season. It could explain the absolute low morale. Not that it excuses it though.

There’s just too much cloud over the club at the moment and it can’t be good for the team.

Verbal agreement reached between United and Ten Hag. <ok>

(allegedly)

Could be announced officially as early as next week.

Gary Neville will be p!ssed! I can’t wait for him to start talking about how his beloved Manchester United made massive mistake in selecting <<insert any manager’s name here that decides to come in >> when they should have gone for <<insert another manager here that isn’t Manchester United’s manager >>.

All but done.

Tbf to Gary Neville, he's backed it.

What I'm keen to know is if he's bringing his coaching team. This HAS to be the case imo otherwise it's the same old failures still creating the same old problems. Complete clear out please and Ten Hag's team to come in!
Good to hear that he is very much a pitch-side, track suit manager rather than a suit who sits in the office.

For those few on here who were advocating Diego Simeone as a possible candidate for the manager's job, can you imagine him lasting 5 minutes in the PL - the man is a street brawler and to say he would have been a disaster for our club is a massive understatement.

The more i read of Ralfs ideas the more i like him. If Ten Hag is on the same wavelength and they work together we could be on a winner.

"If you know what you are looking for it will take two or three windows," said Rangnick, who was appointed as United's interim manager in November.

"If you don't know what you are looking for it is a needle in a haystack.

"If you know what kind of football you want to play and what kind of profiles you want for each individual position, then it is about finding the players and convincing them to come."

"It is not complicated. It is not rocket science," said Rangnick.

"Liverpool finished eighth in the season Jurgen arrived. Then it took two transfer windows. They brought in the right players and got rid of the right players. That is why they are where they are."

This kind of tells me he is less than impressed with the commitment/attitude (maybe even ability) of several existing players and we are due a major overhaul starting this summer.

OFFICIAL: Manchester United appoint Ten Hag as new manager. <badger>

Erik ten Hag will join Man Utd on a three-year deal - with option of a further year - in the summer; Dutchman replaces Ralf Rangnick, with interim boss set to take up consultancy role at Old Trafford; Ten Hag: "I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering success"

Well of course. It has to happen in stages and the defence should be one of the first areas to address.

He may do that though by bringing in a proper box to box CM.
