Totally agree. There are some very interesting positive implications in this appointment. In particular his close personal friendship with Abramovitch, as indicated by the fact that he has been his house guest in London for the past six months, during which he has been studying English and analyzing the English game, certainly opens up the possibility of close cooperation with Chelsea on loan players and direct Russian investment in Hull City. I am sure this possibilty, and behind the scenes discussions between the Allams and Abramovitch representatives, was a key factor behind Slutskys appointment. The next few weeks could be very surprising in terms of which players we are able to keep and exciting young prospects we are able to bring in on loan.
its making me moist too.

Compared to some of the clowns we have been linked with, this looks like an exciting appointment. There's always an element of caution when an unknown comes in but this guy seems to know his stuff. It'll be a relief to get a manager in place at this stage of the close season and you would assume that Slutsky will have been given assurances of shaping the team in his way.

Jake is an average PL player, just. He is way, way above being an average player. It's just about context.

I was paranoid that McClaren was going to be our manager, which makes me very happy about the appointment of Slutsky. Like Marco Silva, he has excellent connections so we are likely to see some exciting talent playing for us in the Championship. Also, it feels like a good fit for reasons I can't quite articulate. I'm really looking forward to next season. Strange feeling to be favourites to go straight back up. It shows the club has made progress. We are much less likely to do a Blackpool with every season that passes. Things were so bad for a while I thought that was our probable fate. Not any more.

Your probably right fez but did you look at him in the championship and think he stood out for an average pl player

Aye, I thought he was okay but inconsistent. It really was hard to judge players under Bruce; half the time no one had a clue what he wanted - especially in midfield. I'm probably not the best bloke to ask, tbh.

I think it messed with his game this season when he played centre half for a few games. When he went back into midfield he looked like a centre half playing in midfield.

So he's an average pl player who didn't stand out in the championship but he's still a lot better than average :)

I'll try. We need to rebuild; he has that remit and experience. We need an attacking mentality, he has shown that. We need a manager who demands total commitment - MS fell at the last hurdle, for me. As I said the other day, he will, his appearance, his bearing, will demand attention. I may read it all wrong, but there is something about him, beyond a decent C.V. ...
