Wanted to jump on when it was out at $10 but held off.. Got on at $2.40 at least. Mike White who was first to mention Silva's name is running with it too, though does mention he's also talking to Palace:

If this is true and all other things being equal I wonder why he'd choose a championship club in a quiet corner of the north and not a PL club in London?

Opportunity to shape a squad in the relative calm of the Championship. If he does well and takes us up, happy days. If he does well but we miss out on promotion he'll get a Premier League team come in for him. If he buggers it up no one will blame him (or notice) as we're seen as the crack-pot team in the Championship.

Having said that it could just be that we're prepared to give him more money than Palarse.

This actually makes me think it's incredibly close to happening. If it was no chance I'm sure they'd deny reports, but they're issuing a "No comment".

As a club we are a perfect opportunity for a manager to really make his name
Key players been sold will give transfer funds
Will still have the makings of a good side after players leave
In a very winnable league (though tough)

If the new manager can pick up some bargain players to develop (like we did with Clucas, Mcquire, robbo), take on some experience from free agent's, and loan some exciting players from clubs, he could make a great squad for a few years and "advertise" himself for a bigger job

Looks good to me. We could do much much worse than employ a manager with experience of winning his domestic league several times, managing his home country, and taking on the big teams in European competition. From Terry Dolan to this? If not for the Allam's other antics they'd be heroes as successors to Pearson.
