I think there are 2 ways to look at this. For me he did fail, he had a set task and didn't achieve it. However the word failure suggests blame and for me - and I'm guessing most people - he certainly wasn't in any way to blame.

He was handed an almost impossible task, everyone recognised it as that and it proved to be the case. I don't think Jose, Ancellotti, Pep or Zidane could've done any better.

Disagree. Go back through these threads and there was far more that empty hope; the position he was handed was incredibly difficult but definitely recoverable. He thought so and, but for a couple of stark fails, he almost achieved his goal. He failed - which was the point.

I agree that we should not confuse fail with blame and I haven't. The squad we had, up to Jan 17, wasn't capable of accruing the points we will finish with and that was just utter madness. Marco failed in his objective, but only a fool would tag him as a poor manager and we aren't. He did get some things wrong, though.

B - I was brought in to save a team from relegation, unfortunately I was not able to do so. However I restructured the team and the club, won promotion on a limited budget, and kept them up after promotion

The Benitez response. But, just like Benitez, he needs to establish his terms.

I said the day he was appointed that all hope was lost and we were already down. The fact he restored hope was a major achievement.

I think they're £3500 a pop.

My wife never told me what she paid for her Champions League Final ticket in 2011 at Wembley.

She went over to London primarily to visit our best friends and see Darlington play and win a cup there.

She also acquired a ticket for her first and only Cup Final and as her best friend was a Swansea fan completed the quartet with the play-off final.

I like the fact his Dad said he'd only come again if he won the League!! <laugh><laugh> Dad's eh.

Though why he said this I'll never know
Tickets for the Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid are still on sale with reseller Viagogo.
Strange

I'm not sure about Watford, they sack managers on a regular basis, they don't spend big money. Realistically were can marco take them? The board should be happy they manage to stay up every year

I think he's odds on to go to Southampton now... what planet are they on though. They finish potentially 8th, reach the League Cup Final and get referee shafted, play in the Europa League and they think they deserve better..

Exactly, they sell there best players luckily their scouting and youth system are good so they always find decent replacements. Would getting us back up and consolidating us as pl team be a better achievement than finishing mid table with the other two

I agree with you of course. Just one thing, but I'm not sure Southampton would let the Marco Silva management group go collectively. They have an infrastructure already in place, goalkeeping coaches, fitness coaches. Maybe they would!... All will be revealed..

Gossip from someone inside the club but you know what gossip is like

Never mind "you know what gossip is like", we all know what you're like - you post once in a blue moon and it's always baseless gossip. As this will prove to be, youve never got ****-all right. FACT.
