I'm with you AR... I think we might get one or two...

Given that Chelsea loaned out 44 players last season, I think there's a good chance of us getting more than one or two (if Slutsky is appointed).

Problem is they are not really the answer we will need if we want to go straight back up! As we saw with Akpom and Haydn, bar the odd exception they tend to be extra bodies rather than the stars for a CCC promotion drive. They are typically very young kids learning the game, and typically not the best of their bunch anyway as clubs like Chelsea or whoever would keep them for their own squad if they are that special.

In that case we can expect to take three years to return to the Premier League. I hooe the owners are preparing to commit to a sustained investment over that period, with an acceptance that after that investment we still may not be promoted.

If Slutsky is coming in selling a vision of an immediate bounce back, I will be interested to see what his plan is.

Abraham, Bamford, Kalas, and others have done a pretty decent job in the second tier in recent seasons. Chelsea's Academy is a touch better than Arsenal's.

Watford whilst in the Championship if I remember correctly loaned a lot of players from Italy which basically helped them to get promoted. I get the feeling we are trying to do something similar, you might see 2 or 3 loans from Chelsea, possibly 2 or 3 from Russia, one or two step up from U23's and 3 or 4 purchased using monies generated from sales.

Nice piece about Slutsky in the I newspaper this morning which I don't seem to be able to find online to post a link. Basically seems to indicate its a done deal. Main points:
Acknowledges most Russian coaches don't travel and Russian football rather enclosed but he would rather start in the championship in England than stay at the top in Russia. Comes across as quite humble, wants to immerse himself in the language and the culture as that's critical to being a successful manager. And obviously v matey with Abramovitch. I felt quite positive after reading it!

From the London Tube to Brexit: Leonid Slutsky on life away from Russia as he looks to make it big in England

Pretty excited after reading that. He comes across really well. He's going to have a hell of a job on his hands reshaping the squad, but his enthusiasm is really positive. Often with Steve Bruce you felt his teams were beaten before a ball had been kicked. Some of his pre match interviews were so down beat and negative.

I'll welcome him and wish him the very best of luck.

Yes they are. Players like Izzy Brown and Tammy Abraham had really impressive seasons and both are more than likely to play for England.

If you bring in the right young kids they can be absolutely massive for us and quite cheap too

Because they are Chelsea players & have no PL experience they'll automatically get into the England side?

I don't mean yet but they're future England players.

They were both big parts of Chelsea youth teams that have won everything possible, they've also been hugely successful with England.

Kasey Palmer was better than Izzy Brown before he was injured according to some Hudd's fans I know... he was on loan from Chelsea too..
