I was there in the 80's, ****ing orible place, queued for absolutely every ****ing thing, walked into a bakers once to try the local bread, I went straight to the counter...Jesus I thought world war 3 had broke out... the locals wer not ****ing happy... apparently you queue to get a ticket, queue to pay for said ticket then queued to get the bread.... I got a loaf but forgot the cake I wanted, ****ed if I was gonna queue another hour... tell you what though i made a fortune on the black market....
Maybe not. No sign of those flags except among get the old communists when I worked there. I bloody love the place and the people. They're as hospitable as anyone you'll ever meet. Sadly, they're fed a news diet that's very anti-western these days, hence the recent hostilities. That's what you get with such a regime. Abramovitch will have tutored Slutsky well in what the UK is about. It's still popular for the Russian elite to educate their kids here despite our political differences.
It's official - apparently http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...utsky-new-Hull-manager-announcement-next-week
If we do get Slutsky, he is currently Abramovich's pet project, so expect plenty of exciting loans from Chelski.
Fights broke out literally everywhere when I went. It was like the OK Corale. Big army personnel carriers parked strategically in the City which I can only assume was to intimidate the locals and tourists. Black pimped up Range Rovers everywhere - apparently the signature car of choice for the Russian Mafia. They could have chosen something more reliable. It's not somewhere I'd ever rush back to. Backwards country. You only have to look at the new breed of football hooligan in Russia.
I think he'll command his team's attention. His record is decent. There are definite positives and I doubt he has wasted his time studying our leagues. We could certainly do worse. On a seperate note, I read the Sutcliffe piece in the Yorkshire Post and it was great to see Hull City used with the derided badge (I like it) - a really strong brand statement and exactly how it should be done.
