The thought of Adkins, scares the crap out of me. sacked at his last 3 clubs, yet he's the bookies fav, not a betting man myself so don't know how this betting business works, but what i have noticed, is that he only appears in the betting for the city job which i find strange.

My gut feeling is that our next manager is not on that list.

Probably way off the mark, but perhaps Jaap Stam could be a contender?

Aren't Reading under going a weak and wobbly ownership period and it would draw such a move would be similar to the conditions when we appointed Pearson.

    Good spot.

I don't think he'll be appointed - we always get lumped with a load of turd (think Blackell et al when we got Bruce), and bar the Phelan appointment, the Allams have actually appointed well previously.

It's interesting to me the way the betting has hardly moved since the market opened. Seems nobody is betting as they haven't got a clue.

You might have a point regards Stam, the reaction of the new owners at Reading (the sister in particular) at the final whistle was "some ****ers going to pay for this balls up".

    Memo to Rehab:

Paul Simpson is the boss man for the England U20's. Wonder if he might like to break into club management at the Championship level? Worth a consideration, me thinks.

Stam says he's at Reading for the long term. Can't see him getting the elbow, but you never know.

    He's been there & wasn't very good.

He was worse in the lower leagues.

    Ehab will be on it.

Its only strange if he's not going to be Hull City's next manager.

Paddy's now have a 4 way tie as favourite - Adkins, Lambert, Moyes and Narky Nige.

The fact that Nige is even on the list shows how little should be read into it.

I'm with Leon, I don't think it will be anyone currently at the top of the betting.

I agree, Allams comments on signing Silva (not getting on the English manager merry go round) reflect this.

I expect it to be a young oversea manager with his own staff, contacts and a plan already in place on how he will rebuild the squad.

Who that will be is anyone's guess.

Anyone out there with much knowledge of football abroad? ?

I thought Adkins was mentioned on here as a possible manager before the betting short lists were released and then hey presto he's number one on their lists.

It makes you wonder whether the bookies base their original odds on any kind of info they can find, and then people get interested and start laying bets because they see a left-field name and assume he's there based on some sort of inside information.
