I've been thinking of comparisons for this current team vs the one that got relegated last time and can say I would far rather have Rodon, Struijk and Bijol as our main options rather than Koch, Llorente and Struijk.

I would also rather Gabby (certainly defensively) over Firpo in this league. Perri looked decent enough the other night (and has overall when he has played) and simply has to be better than Meslier. Loved Ayling but, again, Bogle for me. Okafor and Harrison is pretty much of a muchness with Harrison & Sinisterra for me. Ampadu at least equal to Adams, Longstaff over Weston McDonalds every time, Stach over the non existant Roca providing he can rediscover his early promise.

Now Rodrigo was a superior footballer to DCL but he went missing a lot, particularly when things weren't going well whereas DCL gives everything.

So, overall, not all roses but I think we have a chance of digging in and surviving as our league position suggests. Going to need a lot of determination from the players and likely a fair dose of patience from the fans.
That’s a great shout and I can’t disagree on any of that. Get the feeling Roca would be dead in this league, Firpo frozen yes, Rodrigo when played as a 9 especially in season 2 delivered and some great goals from nothing. If only he had Paddy backing him up..Koch and Diego were scary at times. I also believe Bornou is a decent option too hence why Debyo was allowed to leave and Montiero

We didn't allow Debayo to leave. We offered him a new improved contract and he turned it down to go on a free.

He is currently without a club which is crazy.

Exactly, Aaronson upsets a lot of teams by his work rate but he was flattered by a really bad West Ham, I still wouldn't drop him though.

As for Calvert Lewin he doesn't offer anything that Joseph didn't offer and more.
As one of his biggest detractors , I think Aaronson had a great game, hopefully he’ll keep playing to this level. Got to disagree with the DCL/Joseph debate. DCL at least leads the line and roughs defenders, Joseph wasn’t quite ready for that.

Kev (the guy that used to post on here before Hearts win at the weekend) has had a lot of fun at the expense of The 49ers and Rangers for the last few months. WTF just happened at Celtic?

Board haven’t backed him in the summer. Allowed strikers to leave without replacing them. Club has 78m in bank which is pretty unique in modern times. Desmond trying to put the blame on Rodger’s but fans not falling for it. I’m over there Saturday week for weekend so will pick up info first hand. I expect Ange to be reappointed

Not even near for me it is so boring.
I agree. I can’t quite work out why, the standard of play is often high. I think it’s because of the stench of money that is everywhere.

it’s not that in the good old days all the players were local, half the great Revie team were non English (though not many from outside England Scotland Ireland). It’s more they stayed at the club their whole career, it was their club like it’s the fans club.

I don’t really know, none of it feels real to me, the badge kissing, the ridiculous transfer fees and wages, the agents putting out stories to negotiate even more for their players, dodgy owners who either leverage club purchases and saddle the club with huge debts, or dodgy owners who treat the club as a PR exercise for their other interests, spending rules designed to maintain the status quo at the top, good players at poorer clubs being bought by rich clubs to bench warm and screw their careers, the list goes on.

My mate Del The Tim has said for a while there is a genuine malaise around the club. Didn’t take much notice of him tbh he is a bit of a drama queen and…. well, it is Scottish football after all. He’s hoping for Robbie Keane.

Ps Desmond was quite specific in his words about Rodgers. I said to Del you would have to think he is being honest or the mess will get far worse, public war of words, legal battles etc won’t help anyone.

But that apart you love it yeh?

Can I add to that the style of modern football is brutal. Every team plays the same possession football, walking it out from the back, keeper short kick outs, nobody can take a decent shot from 18 yards, wingers seldom take on and beat a defender, tackles not allowed the list goes on. It’s too sterile. I watched highlights of a Leeds scum game from the nineties. One of our goals was a long punt from our keeper, a flick on that yeboah ran onto and buried. Start to finish took about five seconds. In today’s game the keeper and defenders would be fanning about for two minutes. I genuinely struggle to stay awake for a full evening kick off even if it’s Leeds

We love Matt’s breakfast threads Chesh, but we don’t actually read his AI nonsense for god’s sake.

✨ “Today's Leeds United Discussion Points: October 28, 2025 ✨

1. The West Ham Victory: Momentum and Performance Analysis

• The Brenden Aaronson Factor: The US international was key in the victory (goal and influential performance). Can he maintain this high level of performance, and is he the "difference maker" the team needs?

• The Fast Start and Late Nerves: Leeds raced into a 2-0 lead but struggled to control the game after that, conceding a late goal. Is the team's tendency to drop deep and invite pressure a major concern going forward?

• Defensive Stability: Joe Rodon was singled out for praise in the media. How much credit goes to the back line and goalkeeper Lucas Perri for "seeing the game out," despite the late pressure?

2. Looking Ahead: The Brighton Challenge

• Next Fixture: Leeds travel to play Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, November 1st. What is the immediate target for this game, and what tactical approach should Daniel Farke employ against Roberto De Zerbi's side?

• Injury & Selection Headaches: Discuss the fitness updates on players like Wilfried Gnonto and Gabriel Gudmundsson. Will any returning players force Farke to make a change to a winning line-up?

• Opponent's Injuries: Brighton are reported to have several players out. Is this a massive advantage Leeds must capitalise on, or could it lead to complacency?

3. Managerial Strategy and Long-Term Outlook

• Daniel Farke's Impact: The win was a "priceless three points" that relieved pressure. How is Farke's long-term project developing, and what is the biggest thing he needs to improve in the squad's performance?

• The January Transfer Window: There are already rumours circulating about Leeds' interest in players for the January window (e.g., re-signing a former star or interest in a Real Madrid starlet). What specific positions are the most urgent for the club to strengthen in the new year?”
