With 20 games left, even if we averaged 2 points a game, which is automatic promotion performance over a season, we would still only reach 74 points. I'm an optimist, but that's a very long shot. I'd rather we complete the restructuring, move on older players, then give younger players like Godfrey, Morris, Cantwell and Middleton their chance next season.

I'll wait and see who may leave but there is a balance to be struck as either Pritchard or Maddison would only go for big money and that could be used to bring in quality players who are coming into their prime.

The trouble is you say either or, but both could conceivably go. I don't think the club, Webber or farke would want to lose both but, if both are offered double their money at a Premier league side and the offers are decent the club won't be able to hold on to either. Players have the power these days and we will continue to lose anyone who shows the slightest glimmer of Premiership quality. If not to the PL then increasingly to the Wolves, Derby's etc who are just better funded in our division.

Bah!

That's possible, but we could buy Dack from Blackburn and still have around £25m with which to strengthen the squad. Vrancic can play there and Wes would probably be retained as a player and mentor to the younger players. Both Jaiyesimi (on loan at Grimsby) and Cantwell are very promising AMs. I still don't think it's likely that both Pritchard and Maddison will leave though.

Accurate an interesting post Rick.
IMO, it will be interesting to see how Middleton develops in the next season or two. We also have Phillips and Godfrey (both DMs) out on loan, not forgetting the injured Thompson,
Let's hope agreement can be reached with Trybull and his agent and we'll certainly have a pretty decent midfield for next season. I'm aals optimistic that Gunn may get loaned to us for another year.

If we bought Dack that would be in the short term at least a step down in quality relative to Madders or Pritch, the rest are only starting their loans journey so are likely to in many cases be a season or two away from the first XI.

I didn't realise Phillips was a DM, JMF. I thought he was more in the Trybull or Reed mold. You're our man at the U23 matches though, so I'll be guided by your 'inside knowledge'. ;)

That makes 2 of us then, as I would agree with you that he was more of a 'TettBull', so I checked the Canaries website.

Next Under 23 game is 14th Jan at Colney and then Bournemouth in the PL Cup at 7pm on Jan 22nd at CR - I'll get my winter woollies ready!!! <laugh>

That could well be, but considering that Lewis never went out on loan (I think I'm right about that), how much any player needs is difficult to predict. Cantwell has been on the bench this season, so DF must think he's about ready. If you have players leaving for £15m of course they will be missed, but that's what restructuring is all about.

I am not sure about taking Gunn on loan for a second season. I would like us to promote Mathews instead. It seems counter-productive to produce players from the academy, then borrow someone elses player instead of trusting them.

Good point GE. Gunn fits DF's design of a 'modern keeper'. As long Matthews can do the same, I don't see why not. Certainly DF has said that Matthews, like Godfrey, is in his plans for next season. Even so, I think we may see Matthews as number 2 if Gunn comes back.

We paid £5.27m for Oliviera and it looked like we had bought the real deal scoring perfect hat tricks and other sublime goals .

Then just because Jerome, the guy that scored in the play off final and fired us into contention got the nod over him in the first game of this season.
He ran over took his shirt off and caused a pointless unnecessary situation with our new rookie manager in his first ever English competitive game.

Nelson was clearly trying to say I'm the best striker at this club see I scored you should have started me you mug.
Ever since this Farke has pretty much lost control and is forced to play him every game even though he often goes missing and hasn't scored anywhere near enough goals.
I get the impression Nelson thinks he's too good for this league and would force a move to Wolves or a Premier league side and if we can double our money on him and get £10-£12m then get rid and buy someone like Jack Marriot from Posh for about £2-£3m the 23 year old who is on 17 goals already.
Marriott scored another 2 today he looks like hot property.

Ebuehi sounds a decent transfer. Got a bit of pace about him, likes to get forward, can even play down both flanks. He's over 6ft as well. Got a bit of potential. International as well. Sounds promising.

Decent prospect, but don't need another attacking centre midfielder. Unless Maddison is off...

City closing in on £1m rated Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock, whilst Naismith has been touted with a potential loan move there.

Urgh. We don't need more players in that position.

I remember him from coming through at Boro. He is very direct. Full of running, taking players on. A real flair player. He could be an exciting option. Especially from the bench. But we are apparently in serious financial trouble somehow. But we can spend 1M on another Attacking Midfielder?! Stick Middleton in the team! Or just play Wildschut!
