Been at the LIV golf today. Very different experience.
Basically just a big old day out on the beer for some, with golf as the sideshow. Even walking to the course at 1 groups of lads had clearly been on the sauce early. Just didnt feel right to me.
Organisation naff in my opinion. No easy way of knowing who was on what hole once on the course. Wanted to see a few players but it was guesswork as to whether you could get to them. Watched a couple of groups on 9, including Stenson hit one stone dead, which was good. But bearing in mind it was only about 3pm the 'pub' at the back of the green was rockin, bit too much for me. Skipped to 15 green and 16th tee. Saw Poulter, play and he was good with us. 16th tee Patrick Reid hit his shot as some arse shouted get in the bunker. I thought he was going to lamp him, might have been a highlight to be honest. Saw a bit of Bryson and Westwood which was decent. Left at 4 because it all felt a bit shabby. Big groups of lads on the piss, hard to find the players, viewing points not well thought out. £6 for a decent coffee, £4 for a crap one.
Shotgun start about the only thing probably worthwhile. Apart from the dough I dont believe for one minute pros like Rahm and Bryson like this sort of golf.
Not for me I am afraid. Some times sport if for the theatre of it, and the beauty of it. This is all a bit seedy.
