I prefer a hybrid 2 iron to a 3 wood.

I’ve only got back to using driver in the last year. Used to hit 2-iron all the time, but can blast it 280 yards off the tee with a nice bit of draw. Driver gives me an extra 50+ which helps get aggressive on the par 5s and some par 4s. 2-hybrid is used sparingly to get out of trouble , when I need to keep a low flight at distance.

I have just bought a second hand 3 wood to see what it is like/if I can hit it - ain’t had one in the bag for 13 years. Might go straight back on eBay ….

Of the North east courses, any recommendations? Heading up this weekend and got games locked in at South Moor and Whitley Bay, quite possibly Slaley.

where is worth playing, if I can squeeze one more round in?

I can hit the 3 wood off the deck and it goes further than my 2 hybrid, but it is a lost less accurate, ie it can slice hook easier. I tend to use the 3 wood off the tee where my driver is likely to go in bunkers or trees.

cheers Flanders. I was thinking Castle Eden. ain't played there since I was a junior. i thought/heard (maybe from here) that Matfen had gone downhill a bit?

Seaton Carew/Wynyard that bit further from where I'm staying. ...next trip up instead.

The Matfen info might have come from me...I played there earlier this year and it was horrendous..but people tell me it hadn't stopped raining for weeks...For me, the course should have been closed, but my cousin who is a member tells me, its back to its best again

Brancepeth, catterick ,foxton, dunstanburgh,arcot hall, some great courses up here beamish is often quiet on Sunday afternoons

I don’t hit it that well all the time. Not enough at the minute.
