Wont work before the family arrive but try this later. You need a bag of frozen peas, tea towel, hot water bottle. Lie flat on the floor with the bag of peas wrapped in tea towel for twenty minutes. Bend knees so feet are flat to floor. Now do the same with hot water bottle and repeat. Cold takes the swelling down and heat relaxes the spasmed muscles. Chiropractor taught me it and it works for me.
That's a really good tip! Thank you very much for responding. I will try that, as I'm still in absolute agony. Thanks again.
Had heat from the Deep Heat patch this morning. Have taken 6 back relief tablets today. After what you said I've done the ice pack, then heat pack thing. No change so far.
It works for me but probably takes a couple of hours rotation to free the spasm (locked back). Need to get the doctor on it if it dont improve. Do you have pins snd needles in legs. Cant spell it but phsyaticca is a bitch to shift.
Not pins and needles, but the pain when it spasms does shoot right down my leg to my foot. I've been bent in a 90 degree angle all day.
That like a trapped (still cant sell it) physiatic nerve. Expect your doctor to give you tranqualusers to relax the muscles and free the nerve. The hot cold routine wont hurt add in some anti inflamotories imuprifen ( naproxyn if you have it) and co cidamol painkillers. Then get to the dictors tomorrow.
My Dad today kept saying "the doctor wont do anything for you. You'd be better off seeing a physio or a Masseur." You think the doc would give me some medication to free up my back?
Yes. For sure. As above. You need to free the nerve. The quack might even have an nhs chiropractor once it comes free and means you wont have to pay to have some manipulation. I now only ever go the the docs for meds and fix myself with exercises and hot / cold presses. I dont get many seize ups these days luckily.
They have "Back in motion" now joined to the doctors just down the road from me. But to get an appointment at my doctors is insane. I don't know if I'd get an appointment with a chiropractor anytime soon.
Get an emergency appt at the dictors... They always hold some back. Ring at 8 in the morning. Tell them you cant stand up. Been this helpful is killing my rep as a leeds fan.
Had much the same problem in my working life. Mine was diagnosed as a prolapsed disc and only total immobility for several days allowed it to heal, along with a major regimen of drugs. Had several, less severe recurrences in the course of the next twenty years, but now seems totally fine.
I felt ok in bed and slept well last night until about 4. Could even walk a bit more upright. Going down the stairs was bad again, and lifting my coffee from the kitchen to the living room, just the weight of that and walking made my hand shake and my knees buckle before I got the the sofa. Think it's a tad better this morning, but then yesterday I massively went down hill as the day went on. So will have to see how it goes the next 2 hours. Def not going to work today.
Yes I did when I had an excruciating pain in my back and a colleague who also had back problems recommended them to me. I think I was able to get an appointment the same day. Their new premises are just down the road from the Waitrose roundabout.
