I only saw the first half. Truly awful start and we should have been 3 or 4 down in the first 15 minutes. Huge gaps in midfield and desperate attempts at defending. Strikers with absolutely no confidence, service or support. Body language is worrying. We look beaten before we even start. There is no structure to the side in midfield, no spark and no real intent to put the opposition under pressure. We are like a group of strolling minstrels when we lose/give away the ball; there is no busting a gut to get back and defend. Even Albrighton seemed to be affected and that's unlike him. The manager might have rousing words to the press before the game, but clearly the players are not on the same page. I know there are injuries to key players (KDH and Maddison particularly) but it really is the duty of those on the pitch to do the best they can, and they aren't doing it. Petulant fouls are not the same as commitment.

Forest on Saturday and the players have to acknowledge they are in a dog fight at the wrong end of the table. The only way to get out of that is to not only match but out-compete the opposition and make things happen. There needs to be a huge change in attitude before then otherwise the result will only go one way.

Precisely as described. And the second half was the same. But with goals conceded. It was surprising it wasn't more. Thoroughly depressing.

I'm sorry you told me that, Foxy. In my blissful ignorance I had convinced myself that we had been much improved and desperately unlucky to lose. Now I'm depressed too.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

I can see us signing no one this transfer window. Bournemouth have jumped in for one of our targets, and the other two in Italy aren’t available now. It’s getting very concerning, I know in the past we used to reveal signings out of nowhere, but after the summer window I’m fearing the worse.
Hopefully I’m just seeing the glass half empty, but we need a lift, quickly.

Can't disagree. If we were restricted in the summer due to FFP, our wage bill being at maximum. If we aren't doing any out deals, how can we bring anyone in?
Obviously, we lost Forfana late in the summer window but Faes used up some of the allowance.
I had hoped, given our predicament, we'd go early on a couple of signings.

How are Chelsea not breaking FFP rules? It’s like they’ve still got Abramovic’s credit card and are going on a trolley dash. Surely we could have stumped up for Lookman in the summer, he was only £14m.

So it looks like we may have some transfers incoming, awesome. But need some wisdom. As I understand it we have a full squad of 25 players named as our Prem squad. If we do buy, and no one goes out do we resubmit for the second half of the season and existing squad like Vesterguaard or Cags dont get named and cant play?

Pretty much. We can remove Justin as he's out for the remainder of the season. We've got a few youngsters named, maybe a couple of those get removed if we sign senior players. Alves could be removed as he's out long term too.
So we've 2 places free already.

Soon as the new lad is available, I'd be tempted to play a back 4 of Castagne, Ndidi, Faes and Kristiansen and bring Papy into the holding mid role ...

He won't do it because he is too ****ing stubborn... but I'd love to see Brenda give Iversen a chance ... the new lad is also Danish so perhaps that will convince him too if not today ...

I’ve seen plenty of Walsall fans recently and they’re pretty confident they’ll run us close on Saturday, if not better. It’s a sell out, so there will be a good atmosphere. They play good, fluid football and are on a good run of form at the moment so Rodgers needs to get his selection right. I’m guessing he’ll go as strong as possible to try and get some momentum for a winning run, Villa next week and all their fans have started crowing too, saying they’re going to get Rodgers sacked.

I was there last time we played Walsall in the cup ... 1978 ... we took thousands ... and lost 1-0 to a last minute goal <wah>

The Walsall manager was in charge of Newport, when they knocked us out. I can see why they're confident.
