Having watched the first half he was absolutely shocking last night. Couldn't get on the ball and gave it away every time he did. Must improve.
disappoint.

I'm hopeful he'll get some consistency as time goes on, but if it's not this next season, half his contract will be done and there'll be about one season left before his resale value starts tanking.

I really don't think that was the case. The formation wasn't working either.

He got on the ball a few times by bullying others and then standing his ground, playing some simple passes.

Tried a couple of creative through balls but Cavani and Suarez were just off, and Suarez in particular looked like his head was elsewhere.

Newsflash. He was playing Spain. How much were you expecting him to get into the game? Remember, Spain made Pirlo look **** last summer.

I thought Cavani looked completely lost and dispirited last night. Gaston was unfortunate to go off, as DTLW says it was the formation that just wasn't gelling against what is perhaps the best (if not the best ever) footballing side, and certainly the hardest to play against, since Brazil '70.

Does this make any of my comments invalid. Against Spain, or not against Spain he was piss poor, and against Spain or not against Spain I'd still expect better performances than that.

Well what could he do when his side were without the ball 90% of the time?

I thought he was the best Uruguay player on the pitch. Not sure why you think he was so poor.

I think you are missing my point. Whatever the situation I don't think anyone can say he played well last night and I will expect him to influence a game more than he did last night.

You're missing my point! How the **** do you influence the game against a side that keeps the ball as well as Spain? There were far worse players on the pitch than Gaston. He did pretty well.

Personally thought Gaston did well and thought it was very harsh to sub him.

Oh ****kinggg hell! Whatever the situation, I expect him to influence games more so than he did last night. It really is as simple as I expect him to influence games more so then he did last night. You need your players to get involved.

Bit different when you're against a team that is by far superior and pass it about taking the piss.

I take it you think that Cavani and Suarez are not up to it either?

Oh dear, at no stage have I said Gaston is not up to it! I said he was disappointing last night and didn't influence the game enough.

Ramirez should have been playing in an advanced free role and Uruguay should have been positive.

Rest was about Spain but wrong thread.
