This time of year is always one of the busiest I found for gardening, right up now until end of Easter. Just as spring is kicking in, and you pray for no frost! Then i'd use the early May bank hol, to catch up on anything not done.

Hardest thing I found to grow was indoor cucumbers, well not difficult, but you water the fookers too much or not enough, you kill the plant straight off. So i'd stick a piece of plastic tubing in the soil and use that as a measure, once a day to feed three plants. Eventually ended up with a fooking enourmous triffid!

You need a cold frame to beat the frost...

I'm having my garden done in about a months time. It'll be all slabs but want some pot plants, quite tall plants but I've no idea what is easy to look after?

If you have a trellis or anything for it to grow up, clematis is a great grower. As you can see from the following pic, which is a bit ott, you can grow two or three colours together...

I love pyracantha, takes a while to grow, but again you can blend in two colours, but be warned it's a fooker to train in as it has very sharp needles, but again adds colour...

For something more pot based, this plant will raise a few eyebrows and make you fill chilled out with your rum, on a lovely summers evening....
