ok so it seems to be the norm to have around 4 strikers to choose from, so next season ?
firstly we have gyan our no1 striker
then we have fraizer campbell, hopefully up and running and hopefully banging them in,,
then there is the dilema, most people want danny wellbeck (and rightly so) but what if our 4th striker turns out to be a marquee sighning costing a large sum, what would become of young wellbeck or will saf contemplate loaning him to us again if not guaranteed a number of games.
we all recognise that we need a main hitman, so is it gyan and ?
with campbell and wellbeck subs or would you like to make wellbeck the said marquee sighning and give a youngster a chance.
i believe all the talk about wellbeck on loan is a distracting factor from what we need,

sign Welbeck if we can and another striker (maybe Doyle from Wolves if they go down) as a 3rd or 4th striker. IF we qualify for Europe and i say IF, we'll need a big squad to compete on all fronts(my god did i just say that?)

I've said it before, there's lots of goals and points in this team - we just need catts in the middle, hendyman on the right and Welbeck connecting with Gyan through the middle

We need a top class striker to play alongside Gyan, a proven, goal getting striker, who can create as well as finish, and who can shoot from range, a weapon we lack.

For all the creativity the team now has in midfield, a quick glance at our 'goals for' column shows we have issues in that department.

10 more goals this season, and we may have had 12-15 more points!

33 goals in 29 games is not prolific, we have the fewest number of goalscorers in the league, as much as rate young wellbeck i dont believe he is our answer to our main goalscorer, but a mighty fine sub or if sess is out left wing, goals win games

It looks like a very creative and solid team to me

I would love to see Welbeck signed, as he is improving all the time, his first game back from injury and pulls off a spectacular individual chance

couldn't agree more, i think wellbeck is a great player but not the answer to our goals scoring problem, we need a proven scorer (i know who you are thinking bb) and wellbeck as cover imo

Interesting question this..I don't think Wellbeck will be here next season [hope I'm wrong] so we need to buy a proven goalscorer, who I don't know,[thats the problem for most teams not just us though] maybe it's time to see if young Noble can make the step up too?

Has anybody mentioned this lad?

Or, after seeing him 3 times in the last month...

Admittedly the SOL seems a Paraguayan graveyard, but this lad in the games i have seen recently is tremendous, his greatest strength from what i've seen is his hold up play and usage of the ball, but he's a quality finisher as well.

I don't see the point having Welbeck on loan again, we are just moving the problem back a year, as fantastic as i think Danny is, loan deals are not the way forward, as the following year the new rules regarding finance are in play, and it'll be harder to shell out for a big money signing and stay within the rules.

thank you bb, you seem to be the only one you agrees about the loan sighnings, what about your gignac?

Did you not view the first link marra ;)

Gignac, for all my promotion, would be too expensive i think sadly.

I thought he went to Marseille for 12million euro, he went for 18million euro.

Put that with a strong season, and the fact that Marseille are a higher profile and wealthier club than Toulouse, and i think your looking in excess of £20million to get him, and i don't think we'll pay that.

Barrios may cost less, but he may well want to stay at Dortmund, nailed on to win the league, and therefore champions league seeds next season.

I'm watching loads of games at the minute from loads of leagues, and i'm struggling to see anyone other than these 2 who are the ideal fit (in my opinion).

I'm seeing a load of good strikers, but there seems to be a chronic lack of pace about, and that's not gonna work for us with a pacey midfield, they won't get on the end of thinks.

I guess Benzema will be available, but lets be honest, there would be 7-10 Champions League clubs in like a shot, despite his failings at Madrid.

Welbeck does fit the bill in my opinion, but it HAS to be permanent.

Aren't all clubs looking for a proven goal-scorer who can also score from distance ? Talking about players at the top of the tree there though. To buy them is too expensive and so cut price foreign un-tapped potential seems to be the only (if risky) way to go.

Loads of strikers in the PL who are proven to be NOT prolific--and even they will all be 6 million plus-Shocking
