We'd prefer to sit to together but you would have a far better chance if you went for two single seats anywhere rather than two together (might not be two seats together left by period 6), but if you put two single applications in you run the risk of getting one ticket instead of two and you can't have it both ways.

Is that right?

(I do realise there's very little chance of getting a ticket anyway)

Yeah you got it right, but remember in your case a child can't attend the game without an adult <laugh>
