Agree with the comments on Savage last night - don't normally enjoy his commentary or punditry at all - but last night showed exactly why Phil Neville got so much stick in the World Cup

It was funny. No reserved comment when that tackle in the second half went in. In the replay the player signalled and said 'I got the ball' and Savage blurted out 'GOT THE BALL' it was hilarious. Johnathan Pearce would have made out it was a tackle bringing the game into disrepute for the next 5 minutes whereas it was a good old fashioned lower league game where tackles are allowed (even though some were a bit dodgy.) And Savage showed he just loves football and said things like he saw them rather than the others who very quickly think how they can make themselves sound clever.

Way better than the Spurs game where you could hear John Champion getting pissed off with Claaaaaaaaaaarke Caaaaaaaaarlisle.

Where Peter Brackley and Chris Waddle gone? They need bringing back.

Can't stand Savage but have to say loved his co-commentary tonight. Honest and passionate. Sounded like he was loving the experience.

)

Have to disagree about Savage he might have loved it but anyone from the terraces would have been able to offer his level of insight.

Anyway, I didn't want to talk about him. What I wanted to mention was something that really filled me with horror. It was the BBC link man knocking on the dressing room door saying, "We're ready for you now". We all know that TV runs football in many ways but this was too much for my sensitivities. I can't have been the only one to notice it and think it wrong.

I didn't see that, but I was equally horrified by the BBC interviewing Warrington's Captain at half time of their game on Friday night... let him concentrate on the game and get on with the important stuff. FFS.

All part of the same issue I think.
