I thought you'd go for that one with that search. :emoticon-0136-giggl

You seem to be expecting a smoking gun and a Bond villain smoking a cat all laid out neatly.

Have a google yourself, it was a response to a response anyway, I've little inclination to go vanishing down rabbit holes defending an institution and ideologies I reject. Not on here anyway.
Well, at least you're not deflecting and diverting, eh?

I keep trying to get you all back on track, but have a look at some of the other topic empty posts in the last couple of pages. It flits because people try to be adversarial and personlised rather than open to a conversation.

Here's one that should give you some clues on what I'm NOT trying to claim, as some on here go galloping off to prove their prejudice, rather than what's been said. For example, I don't believe that there's anything to suggest that there's some plan to continue the nazi ideologies.

It's not a bad start for further googling though.

Not checked it fully, and there are some bits that are questionable, but no doubt I'll now be the owner and author of all of it now. I'm only posting it to try to help your search. There's better out there.

A great man once said "The European Union is a continuation of Germany by other means". 1 Like for the person that guesses it right, first time with no Googling.

The opendemocracy link completely refutes the video that you've posted.
Hallstein wasn't a Nazi. He was a lawyer and an academic who got drafted late on.

The presenter's another member of Rath's organisation of alternative nonsense medicine.
He's probably opposed to the EU because of the consumer protection that it provides.
Selling snake oil's a lot harder when there are laws against it.

Yep. Which is why I said I wasn't claiming any of that, and why I put the caveats and why I mentioned people getting hung up on the messenger.

It was a response to a response and it's not something that is worth expanding on this forum for the reasons I mention.

You need to do your own googling.

Googling for what?

Enlightenment.

Instead of trying to debunk a claim I haven't made, do a bit of research into the background to the EU and have an open mind.
There's a difference between having an open mind and letting any old crap in.

You're claiming that there's some dubious agenda behind the EU.
If there's some evidence of it, then provide it.
Saying it's there but you're not going to show anyone is just disingenuous.

Who could forget the classic "I know more than you about this and can assure you you're wrong but I'm choosing not to tell you what I know"?

It's bullshit!..

The EU began for the simple reason to try and stop wars between close neighbours in Europe.

In the City it was accepted that the single currency came about as a quid pro quo between France and Germany.

The idea of the single currency, and eventual political union, was French. The deal with Germany was that the French wouldn't raise too many objections to the reunification of Germany, something which historically they had reason to be apprehensive about, if Germany backed their idea for the single currency, and eventual political union.
