I'm not a fan of mainstream Christianity, but those cults are particularly damaging and worrying, in my opinion.
Scientology picked up a lot of their dubious tactics from them.
The influence on American politics is terrible.

Scientology is basically Hollywood superstars wanting their own religion to fuel their over inflated egos. ****ing bonkers the lot of them.

I agree with the bonkers part, but I think that Scientology intentionally targeted the acting industry.
They infiltrated various aspects of the US government, too.
You're probably aware of it, but here's a link if you're not:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White

It's more of a criminal enterprise than a religion, in my opinion. Very dodgy.

Yep, I've read a bit about L.Ron Hubbard before, extremely dodgy character and seems that his disciples had far reaching influence in all aspects of US govt and civil organisations. I do think that people like Tom Cruise though are megalomaniacs though, and need something like Scientology to justify their elevated status in society. All very warped and ****ed up psychology in my opinion.

The Satanic thing is a distraction. The Satanic Temple in the US is the only religious group pushing secularism, amusingly.
It's a bunch of atheists, but they use it to highlight the ridiculousness of state promotion of religion.
    This is one hilarious example:

Religious invocations before council meetings? No problem. Have some Satan! <laugh>

It's just another diversion. If those in power can get the little people fighting each other, then they keep that power.

Classic divide and rule tactics, they've been doing it for centuries.

I think that Cruise is as much of a victim of the church as many other people.
Imagine all the **** that they've got on him from their auditing sessions?
Taped confessionals that they've been doing for decades. They could ruin him if he left or spoke out.

They tell thousands of people that they can make them a success and that their methods will improve your life.
Target a bunch of young actors, push them to do a lot of work, then hope that at least some of them succeed, while they all promote each other.
Then go after other people in the industry and do the same with them.
You've got a great advertising tool and a group of rich people to leech from for decades.

The other plus is that all of those people will believe that their success is due to the church.
The failures will probably leave, but they won't have the money, the power or the profile, so it doesn't matter.
Those that remain aren't allowed to have contact with them either, so they won't see the church failing.

Twisted as ****, but you can see why it works.

So now not over taxing business makes a country a tax haven? More left wing madness - even if it is only one irrelevant person saying it.

Overtaxing? The ****ers aren't paying nearly enough and Farage wants them to pay even less.
He pretends to be a man of the people, but he's an old-school Tory pushing the Starve the Beast strategy.
The man's a fraud, but then most of those that you hail have no integrity, so I'm not surprised.

What the Uk should do, IMO, assuming Brexit goes ahead, is to do exactly that. Cut corporation tax to the most competitive rate in Europe. The quid pro quo is that all loopholes, offsets, etc are eliminated, completely. Just a low flat rate remaining.

In other words, this is the lowest, most competitive corporation tax rate around, but we expect it paid, or else!...

I may be wrong, but I'm a little suspicious about McDonald's deciding to domicile its non US tax affairs in the U.K!

Have they been tipped the wink about something forthcoming?...
