Yeah it was pure coincidence that you - as a Gooner - made this thread the day after the Pepe sending off mate. Just spooky timing that’s all.
It sparked off the debate that's all.

Basically the general mentality in football is that 'one team gets screwed over, complains and all the other fans take the piss'. Nobody actually wants to do anything about it unless it just happened to them.

Football would be better without all that IMO - if you disagree then great. But ask someone who doesnt watch football why they dont and chances are diving/play acting will be brought up in the conversation.

The answer is quite simple...

I came from an age, that when I played football at school the object was not just to score a goal, but to let out some of that young frustration by kicking lumps out of one another.

Then when I got older, we saw it in professional football, Wimbledon with Vinny, Dirty Leeds with Revie, the Keegan and Bremner encounters, Mackay, see you jimmy!

Then in 1992 SKY turned football into a TV game, so the days of the Terry Butcher head injuries were no more.

So these days in football you just pretend to throw back the poncho Clint Eastwood style, because anything other than heavy breathing gets you sent off.

Only you didn’t get screwed over mate, your player acted like a tit & rightly got sent off.

The debate about diving or the ‘minimal touch’, ‘made the most of it’ gamesmanship..... or cheating as I prefer to call it, is a valid but futile one, as it’ll never change now, as it’s engrained & referees fall for it every week, whilst ex pro pundits call it ‘clever’. That boat sailed donkeys ago.

In other words you're **** at football and resented being the last picked, so you went around kicking the good players.

Mate I never said we got screwed over.

I'm not even trying to debate the Pepe incident. Honestly Im not bothered, we played like ****.

What bothers me is we have culture of players acting like complete pussies.

Personally I wanna see more contact in the game.

It’s been happening for 20 years, nothing will change that. Either you adapt or carry on whinging...

Justin got booked for a perfectly executed, clean as a whistle challenge at the RS on Sunday.

The days of elite level togger being a full contact sport with full blooded challenges and fiercely contested 50/50’s are in the ‘jumpers for goalposts’ envelope now mate. Gone, forever.

Spot on fella......... Its fking embarrassing that players will play act for gain..... Makes you wonder how the game can still be betted on considering the cheating taking place.

Shame on football fans for allowing this great game become a drag queen type mess of entertainment

I hate it when pundits call it 'clever' or 'cute' when players play act to get other players sent off, or try to con the ref into giving them a pen.

It's cheating. Let's at least fkin have it right for what it is.

Players exaggerating contact has been going on longer than that tbh.

Read Tony Adams autobiography recently and he said George Graham used to tell Arsenal players to go down with contact in the late 80's and early 90's.
