I think that what we have seen is not just about flying, but the business model that is used throughout UK companies. We have seen companies go bust carrying out government contracts relying on the next contract to keep the money flowing. Thomas Cook were paying the hotels after 60-90 days. I am very much in favour of people getting out of where they live and finding out how others get by in this world. The narrow minded view that Margate is great, but I would rather spend a holiday in Majorca seems very hypocritical to me. Maybe some of those who like to take the short breaks should read Robert Louis Stevenson's book, Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes. As he said, "Alas, as we get up in life, and are more preoccupied with our affairs, even a holiday is a thing that must be worked for.
