Not sure I've got the right title here but I've read somewhere that our forthcoming away game at Wycombe has resulted in them giving us an extra 900 on top of 1800 they have available in the away end.
This means they have had to tell 300 season ticket holders that their seats are not available for our match as their club is opting to take the cash as they have noted we have sold out for all our away games this season so far.
Now I fully understand smaller clubs wanting to make some extra cash but what are these 300 season ticket holders going to think.
If as we hope we end up getting promoted then there will be a lot of Division1 chairman lamenting our moving on.
Money talks apparently.

I’m surprised Wycombe have 300 season ticket holders in 800 seats, I’d suggest that’s an exaggerated number.

They'll be happy their club is getting a cash boost if they were any kind of fan.

It's like the folk moaning about us shutting the upper concourse cause they'd have to relocate. The stadium looked half empty and soulless but all many of them could think about is themselves.

Supporting a football club isn't about oneself, it's about pulling together. Decent fans won't mind moving for one game.

All I can say is welcome to league one. This league has clubs who do all sorts to encourage extra people through the turnstyles. They have to and few enjoy the sort of support that you and perhaps Portsmouth do on a regular basis. I am a season ticket holder at Argyle and have been for a lot of years now. Argyle do "kid for a quid" and a few other cheap offerings in a season. We have a reasonable support compared to many others but this still happens as it does with a lot of the teams. My season ticket is given they tell me as a reward for regular support and committment. This entitles me to a reduced weekly rate by paying in one lump at the start. I basically get 6 free entries over the season. This is eroded by the offers made during the season but I and many others don't care about that. What the offers do is encourage youngsters away from the televised premier league games and into live football. Unless we got to the top division we would not have these kids on any regular basis. That cannot be a bad thing. Money spinning matches in league one are few and far between. If the club can make a load of spare dosh by giving extra tickets that involve cash being drawn into the club then I doubt any season ticket holder would revolt much in any of the clubs that don't normally sell out. Your club doesn't need to offer anything at this level given the numbers you can muster. Nobody else in this league could challenge Sunderland for financial clout no matter how many offers they made. That's just a fact rather than any sort of jealousy. Your history of top football forms your fan base and plenty in league one have none of that or haven't for many years which is why the attendances are not there.

We still do incentives on tickets. We don’t give thousands away like the Mags bleat on we do (we give some to schools etc as do all clubs), but we’ve done kids a quid this season I think.

I’m the same as you, I only get to 2 thirds of games now but I still buy season ticket as I see it as my contribution to the club, it probably is cheaper overall to buy on the day and take advantage of offers but you’re talking a few quid.

I fully understand clubs giving us huge away allocations and it’s good that we are helping out clubs, we are probably paying 3 month salary for the clubs giving us thousands of tickets, and it’s good that it benefits all.
